Jimbei is first strawhat that saved luffy again and again even he didnt yet become strawhats but he’s already become Luffy precious nakama. Even Ace asked him to protect Luffy, but Jimbei said he will only do that if he respect that person. And now, because of respect, he hold that promised for his captain. What a dynamic relationship Luffy had beside with Zoro.

This always gives me chills in the best way...! Especially what Luffy says at the end of the video here, in Japanese he says "Shindemo shinu na yo!!!!" which translates to "Even if you die, don't die!". Or, basically, what Captain America said in Age Of Ultron; "If you get Walk it off." :D

I know the post-timeskip as a whole demonstrates Luffy’s growth as a captain, but to me, Whole Cake really knocks it out of the park. Between this moment, his powerful perseverance in shouldering Sanji’s burdens, breaking the mirror, the upbeat boost of assurance he gives to his crew in the midst of Kat pulverizing him. He’s always depended upon no doubt, but the quick moments where the crew awaits his orders just felt more pronounced in this arc, imo.
