I love night cafe. I don't think it's ugly the way we're taught in school, I think it's ugly in the way it feels. It's an ugly atmosphere, but a beautiful painting of that ugliness. If that makes sense.

This painting is incredible. Staring at it for too much time makes me feel trapped and my breath starts to be shorter...so weird and amazing

The overhead lamps in this painting look like eyes

Suddenly I had a weird feeling when I saw this painting.

I can't explain what truly is, but I felt like you were on a sad, lonely, eerie world.

Very beautiful painting. Unsettling, but not even remotely ugly.

The pool table doesn't have holes. Wonder if that was intentional

Welp, he succeeded. This painting makes me feel like I'm too drunk to stand up, feel like I'm trapped, and it makes me feel like I'm going mad.

_The more ugly, old, nasty, ill, and poor I become the more I want to get my own back by producing vibrant, well-arranged, radiant colour._

If you haven’t seen Loving Vincent I’d highly recommend it! It’s a gorgeous film that gives you a lot of insight into his life and style.

How do you make such perfect videos, everything from the editing to the commentary to the structure is mastery.

THIS was brilliantly explained. I cannot begin to thank you for sharing this video. Van Gogh is one of my favorite painters, and this added so much more information for me as I learn about art. Thank you!

If you liked the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam I can’t recommend the Kröller-Müller museum enough. It’s maybe an hour or so outside the city. They have the second largest collection of Van Goghs in the world, including some of my personal favorites, and crowds a tenth the size of Amsterdam. Plus you’ll get to find yourself in the gorgeous countryside in their outdoor sculpture gardens.

That relatable moment when you are so good that even the ugly thing you make is a masterpeice...

There’s a madness to his paintings that is visceral. The lack of literally mixing the colours gives it a manic quality that can be either jarring or soothing depending on his colour theory within a given painting

it's not unsettling for me. I wish i can feel the unsettling feeling you get from it. it's kinda warm and cozy for me.

Red/green color combinations are FASCINATING to me. It's really interesting that red/green became the dominant color theme of Xmas, especially because the two are so brash next to each other. It's almost like we all decided as a culture that CHRISTMAS MUST BE AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE. Keep up the great work my friend!
