Van Gogh Sketches Disputed

A lost sketchbook by Vincent van Gogh has been revealed to much excitement. But a museum says the drawings are fakes.

Sketches look like copies of the paintings.... not preliminary studies. Real studies usually show exploratory variations and close-up details, not a single fully conceived idea.

you can tell that the hard copy she have is not original. I think the original is now preserved considering its status. Respect fo this woman to show importance of art and history.

They are interesting drawings, sometimes beautiful. The argument is that these look like drawings done after the fact, after finished paintings and stylistic achievements native to the paintings. Most of Van Gogh's drawings are less stylized, more done to record or depict form, more traditional. However, if these were a gift, it could have been a special drawing style developed for special presentation drawings. You see that dichotomy in other artists, like Rembrandt (workshop drawings vs rare presentation pieces).

The bit where the guy who lives in the old Van Gogh house, contacted her, didn't know the importance of what he had all these years - does sound very ridiculous 🙄.

Those drawings do not have the deft etching quality of line, no weight to it or controlled movement that his have. They are crude, flat, distorted, not even good fakes. I could do a better job imitating him than whoever did that.. Next time you want to perpetrate a hoax, actually get someone who can draw! Even lead poisoned, mad and drunken, Vincent can do better.

Van Gogh is Dutch. The yellow house was Van Gogh house. Return to the rightful owner. Reputation or the money, which really interest of the woman? Truth or sketches of lies?

these are so dead so lifeless there's no way Vincent van Gogh did these this lady who said she has discovered these wants to see them to be Van Gogh's so badly that she's blinded herself to the fact that they are absolutely poorly done and somebody has pulled off a bad joke on her ego and maybe paycheck
