SteelSeries Sensei Wireless Review - 5 Months Later

I originally reviewed the SteelSeries Sensei Wireless about 5 months ago, and said it was a strong competitor to my favorite mouse. Do my feelings still stand, or did I go back to another mouse?

I got one of this mouse and in the 1st month or so I went to plug the cable directly into the mouse so I can keep using it, and when I went to plug the cord back into the charging dock it wouldn’t light up or connect to the mouse unless I held the cord in a very specific position. Any advice on what to do to make it work again?

the connection failure when charging is caused by electrostatic dust that forms in the mouse contacts, just clean with isopropylic alcohol or just delicately scrape them with a blade or even with a pencil (graphite increases conduction) and it will go back to connect easily. this happens with certain types of fabric covered mouse mats(happened to me with a year old heavily used razer goliathus). Steelseries pads or rigid pads wont give you the issue. for me this mouse is close to perfection, only 2 issues, 1) its slightly heavy, but wireless mice normally are, just use a high glide mouse surface 2) sometimes takes time to wake up from sleep mode and that cant be disabled ( not even when in the charging dock), only delayed to 20 min. Hoping steelseries will come up with a firmware or something, but i doubt it.

i had this mouse when the first batch come out, in 3 days, my wireless dock not working anymore. cant send for warranty because Singapore shop cheated me it does not come with warranty. wtf.

Got it around 3years and 1 month. My mouse battery is swelling 3 times it original size and almost blow my hand. Just got lucky to sent to someone to fix it from the broken scroll wheel and he tell me about the battery.

Any one who got Sensei Wireless over 2 years or battery is not last long, get it check before your mouse convert to grenade. Wish you luck.
I'm still with SS any way after this incident.

I know I'm a bit late here, but I have never "accidentally" hit the dpi button lol, and I find it convenient that its there since I usually swap between dpi on different games

Wireless Sensei. Left-handed here. I just got one yesterday. I find the latest (March 2015) software difficult to set up to work in games. I also had to alter the mouse physically to be able to use all four side buttons. Until I get used to it, I miss the first wired mouse I bought in ten years (the Logitech G300); I always use the extra 4 buttons in CS:GO for specific grenades. I hate having to fiddle to get a particular grenade out for a particular situation.
I also find the Instructions and software are practically unusable to multi-button novices. There are still ZERO video`s on Youtube or anywhere on how to set up the latest (2015) software for custom-mapping.
I would be happy at $75; but paid probably twice that. Well, at least my wife did. :)

My mouses wireless started being really bad, losing/lagging a lot even with the charging base close to it.

If you could answer please, have you noticed any input added lag when using on wireless? I own the mamba chroma 2015 and it does have a noticeable input lag when using wireless but the most annoying thing of all is that the mamba chroma have an unstable polling rate on wireless, plus when you do small precise movements, like really small mouse movements for like a few pixels on screen, the mamba in wireless is very not at all precise, does the sensei wireless is the same?

This mouse is a really good mouse.
However, the same place is broken every time.
I repaired this mouse button three times in four years.
The wheel button on this mouse will broken once a year.

i am thinking of this mouse for replacing my razer mambo because i don't like razer putting sneaky software on my pc  that tries to force me to install drivers, last time i did that my mouse stopped working.  Is the snsei charging plate really hit and miss, i know i have never had that issue with the razer mambo.  Do you know if you can buy replacement feet and more importantly thumb area stickers for wear and tear.  My razer only does the bottom feet.  Ps: great vid.

tempted to get this or the Rival 700, its free from SteelSeries so I don't mind which.. I was going to get the 700, but then thought about the wireless one, I used the wireless headset 800, but now using the arctis 7, I'm thinking the wireless mouse will benefit me.. but its kinda old now isn't it? I know what will happen, I'll get the wireless one, then a new one will come out :P

you could just use the wired option and
the mouse isnt meant for fps games
