Religion and culture are two separate things that can overlap. What one person participates in on one side of the world may be frowned upon on the other side of the world. At the end of the day, being the best human you can be is all that matters.

I think children are the most excited abt their birthdays and we should not take that away from them....as grown ups who likes to age every single year😂

Fun thought: Shouldn't it be the mums celebrating it because they did all the hard work

I’m a Muslim let me clear things up, everything she said is followed by a strict Muslim. Muslims now days are not as strict, yes we’re not allow to do these things but what we are allowed to do is have dinner with our families and ask prayers from everyone. And to those Muslims who blowed candles on their birthday calm down lol. Don’t do it your next Birthday and remember Allah is the most forgiving. Pray 5 times a day, read the Quran and try to follow Islam in the best way. And to those hating on Islam because they think it’s “strict” no one is telling you to be a Muslim. When you have strong faith in your god no one gives a shit about birthday parties, candles and music. Our love for Allah is so beautiful and strong that none of this stuff that people do in this world matter to us. Let us be. We Muslims are very happy trust me. I am so glad I’m a Muslim

I mean I'm a Muslim and I LOVE celebrating my birthday but it's completely halal. So basically on the morning of my birthday my mom makes my favourite breakfast for me and my favourite meals basically and mom and dad makes dua and also gives zakkah to the poor and needy and after a few days of my birthday, then my mom either bakes or my dad brings one but with no candles, no candle 🕯️ wishes and only just with my family as a normal day and I actually enjoy it really very much ❤️

So basically a GOOD celebration is not allowed

Looking over these comments and watching the videos what's super intresting is people are saying why things are OK or not ok but we already know there a difference on options by scholars so thus more than one view point can be taken and thus many ways to live by too. It is super intresting and I hope people realise even when following the same religion there will be differences and that is ok too

Wow I haven’t heard anything like this before.
My whole family is Muslim and we live in a fully Muslim country but We always have had cakes with candles.
We only don’t have alcohol
Also it’s mostly all women or all men but we do put on music and we do dance .
If the party is mixed we just don’t dance but we do enjoy music and wish while blowing the candles.

interesting on the imitating non muslim part bc it's just celebrating your birth...a human tradition, i guess..it's nothing religious about it. kinda like wedding anniversary and new years. like when your child is one year old, you'd wanna celebrate as remembrance of their birth. i'd like to hear in depth reasons for scholar who says no. bc is imitating non muslim that bad? even if it's as trivial as BD 😲😲 (i'm non muslim) bc as long as it is not haram

People in the comments saying "Ah so Muslims don't get to enjoy 'normal things' like partying, gender mixing etc in life" and stuff like that...
1) There is no compulsion in Islam. No one can tie you with chains and whip you and say "No, don't celebrate your birthday." It's a personal choice. Always is. Always has been. Always will be.
2) We'll enjoy more in Jannah In Sha Allah. And more than we can in a hundred thousand years in this world at that. May Allah SWT protect us from hellfire. Ameen.
3) If you bring up the matter of "freedom to have (what you believe is) enjoyment, you should also recognise and be respectful to one's freedom to choose how and to what extent to follow their religion as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

People commenting about the candle conflict, In my opinion, yes candles are represantative praying tools in ancient greek times which they prayed to their numerous gods and goddesses. However, we have less information about these times. Do you have any idea what today's muslims used to do back then? I'm from Turkey and we are originally from Central Asia. In ancient Turks, they used to believe in one god, it was so similar to today's Islam. However, we used to light candles too because our ancestors were practasing Shamanism, it was not a religion was a life style from what i understood as i searched. So, "lighting" something is humanity, nothing to do with cultures or religious aspects i believe :) We can light a candle and make dua still. Allah knows our intentions.

When we newly reverted to islam, kids wanted to celebrate birthday but i know its haram in islam.
Then i told my kids only one thing, after which they lost interest in birthday celebrations.
That things is: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) never celebrated his birthday. Actually its a fact.

I am so glad that you said it without compromising Islam even tho you have mixed audiences, knowing it's gonna trigger people! I respect you so much. And people should respect you and your beliefs as well! It's not like she is forcing anything on anyone but simply sharing what her beliefs are.

Learn to respect others, people! Jeez.
