CORRECTION! I made a mistake when I was making the slide for after April 1st. E1 should have said $2, 319 and not $2, 752. That was the before April pay of an E4 and I think I copied that slide to edit for this one.

Best advice i can give: if youre making less than 40k a year, go active duty. Your pay might only be like 2k a month, but your benefits are like a invisible 3-4k a month,

If you make over 40k and like your job, go guard/reserve.

I joined the guard and it has been super worth it. My only "dislike" is i am now stuck in a state i have grown to hate until i can get a higher paying job in a different state that can support flying to another state regularly

My husband is an E-3 so this is all really exciting to hear. He just joined in 2023 and we actually just had our 3rd baby (the only one we had while in the military), and I do have to say as a military spouse It’s really nice to have all that medical coverage and I had really nice prenatal care. The hospital on base was amazing!
We live off post and our apartment is really nice too and having BAH is so beneficial for families. There are a lot of positive benefits for sure. It’s gonna be sad once he leaves for his deployment but that’s just part of it and I know we’ll get through it. It’s definitely worth it in the long run.
Your videos are super helpful btw! I watched all of them the whole entire time he was in basic training 😊

Damn those are major upgrades from the $650 checks I’d get every two weeks as an E1 back in 2004. Inflation is real.

I am 30 and I just joined and I’m in delayed entry ship off September 16. Hopefully I’m not grilled too bad.🎉

I think people in the service should make just as much as actors and people who play sports cause they’re protecting our country period

It's doubtful that after the military anyone can be in a job thats more fulfilling. Theres something about the responsibility and in my case your shipmates. The money seems awesome compared to when i was in the Navy. But it's noe an easy life.

For any veteran who has been in a combat zone, I think the government should provide for medical FOR LIFE, and income tax exemption for life, , also for anyone honorably discharged or currently serving.

When I joined in 1973 as an E-1 was $307.20
When discharged in 1977 as an E-5 it was $516.30
If I was 20 years old, single and lived the way I did then …..I would be rich . I lived on ship and saved the majority of my pay and saved enough put a good down payment on a house when I was discharged .

I was excited when I heard that bah is not taxed then I saw that child support takes 65% of it including bonus if you get them . Least I won’t be in debt for long 🤣
