Knew a green beret. Nicest and most patient man you've ever met. But this man was an absolute unit, even being retired and past his prime. You could tell he was the epitome of, " don't mistake my kindness for weakness"

Fun Fact: David Goggins argued that Ranger school was harder than BUDs because Ranger students weren't only sleep-deprived but also malnourished. In his book, he mentions that one of his classmates tried to eat a log that looked like a box of doughnuts.

Seals are so dope. I’ve only spoken to one in my life. You notice real quick you are not talking to a regular human. Straight up lethal weapon

Knew a MARSOC. Dude was a badass of the nth degree. He finally lost a battle, albeit to an overdose in 2016. :/

Pro tip: don’t pick a fight with a SEAL. Or an actual seal.

1. one of the most resource rich land on earth
2. was not destroyed by two world wars which helped it surpass the old euro powers as well as being far from high conflict areas
3. thriving democratic/capitalistic foundation lead to a more merit-based approach than old world aristocratic approach. This helped foster a more innovative and competitive technology that help thrive the economy (US stock market, the internet, medicine, etc.) but of course no system is perfect as it has its flaws

People often get SF confused with SOF. SEALS, MARSOC, and every other Specialized unit are considered Special operations. The only true Special Forces are the Green Berets. The other thing is that SEALs aren’t even the best. They have excellent marketing and publicity but they’re really just one of many tools in the toolshed that is SOCOM. You choose the right unit for the right job.

@ 17:20 Sorry Marine Raiders where created in Early WWII not 2006, they where re-establish in 2006. They actual did a famous raid in WWII to rescue over a hundred POW from a Japanese internment camp.

During the Bin Laden raid, the helicopter went down because the team had practiced in the desert with chainlinked fencing simulating walls of the compound. The actual walls were solid and did not let the rotor wash flow through, so the air began heating up. This caused the helicopter to lose lift and it crashed.

For the rangers it’s an 8 week course in 2 phases called rasp (ranger assessment selection program) what you describe in the video is ranger school. That is a leadership school and after that you are “ranger qualified” to be apart of the sof unit 75th ranger regiment you have to complete rasp, and if your an e5 or older you have to go to ranger school. And with the Green Berets their selection is 3 weeks long with schooling depending on your job being being anywhere from 1.5 years to 3 years

I happened to fight along with a few guys who were ex-rangers and ex-raiders. Their stress resistance, marksmanship and ability to maintain focus after few days of intense action without sleep is unparalleled.
However this war is getting more different than it was. They had to pick up a lot of skills with software, drone operations, SIGINT, comms and jammer operations. Every army that does not have that skillset on a scale is falling behind.
