Smh she replaced the Kia with a Chevy... I thought she didn’t want a car that would blow up again.

Kia said my car wasn't apart of the recall but it smokes and probably gonna catch on fire one day

If the vehicle was financed, it has to have full coverage insurance. How is she "still paying the bank for a car she will never drive"?

in the video you can see that the oil was leaking very badly. If that gets on the exhasust and manifold it will smoke first and then catch on fire. The catalytic converter can get up to 600 degrees. I blame jiffy lube here.

I had a car fire after an oil change at Jiffy Lube as well... This one was in New Hampshire, but still... Jiffy Lube seems to have this happen a lot.

Jiffy lube are crooks, my former boss had me take the fleet of vans for oil change but when the price tripled after taking van for oil change from $19.99 to $59.99 he asked if I could do oil change and he would pay me $20 a van plus weekend overtime, sure but needed jack, stands etc. Worked out great and saved company money 12 vans and afterwards I didn't have to deliver DME just maintain vans

Probably double-gasketed the oil filter.

However Kia does have a history of spontaneously bursting into flames. So unless this was investigated you don’t really know if it was Jiffy lube’s fault or may have just been Kia’s fault

The flash point of oil is extremely high. Highly doubt it was the oil change

This is why I do ALL my own oil changes. I am physically disabled.. but I still work on my own vehicles when its possible. I don't want some looser making minimum wage to mess up my vehicle that I rely on for my own livelyhood.

My guy always shows me the freshly pulled dip stick with oil level on it

Its probably as simple as they spilt some extra oil on the exhaust manifold... then it caught fire and melted the platic valve cover or oil filter housing spilling more oil down the road

A leak from a drain plug will not cause a fire. It's physically impossible to be driving and a fire happens from oil leaking out of the plug. The filter on those cars are right beside the oil pan as well so that's out of the picture too. Yes the car was leaking, no the fire was not caused by the leak on the bottom end of the motor. It would have to be leaking from up top somewhere.

Its a Kia, bursting into flames is not a new thing for these GDI motors.

Let's say it was the oil change, what are the odds of this to happen?, I want to offer oil changes on my shop but iam afraid something like this to happen and be responsible to pay the damages

Maybe the oil fill cap was left off....

Well, part of the problem is owing $16K on a $12, 500 vehicle. Banks and dealers who set up that kind of thing should be liable for the amount above the car's value that they approved when they arranged the loan. That should be their problem. That would certainly stop these "underwater" loans from happening.
