Pokémon Legends: Arceus Review - The Final Verdict

A startlingly accomplished work of game design, Pokemon Legends Arceus is the game fans have been desperately hoping for for years, come to life at last – an incredible game that manages to deliver a fantastic experience, and not just “for a Pokemon game” either. For the first time in a very long time, there is reason to be excited for the future of the franchise.

I had my doubts but after catching glimpses of my children playing this game, I decided to check it out. Now, I'm hooked! I know the graphics are not the best and the world is somewhat sparse. But I can't deny that the game simply makes me happy and compels me to explore and complete missions and requests. It's an enjoyable world to be in and beautiful in its simplicity. It's really hard to judge this game without actually playing it. It is a great example of how gameplay trumps graphics. I'd actually highly recommend it though I'm sure some will still find it's just not for them.

Building my pokedec and taking the game at my pace has been highly enjoyable for me. I've found that the rewards system for catching more pokemon and building my pokedec is just the right amount of motivation to steer away from the main storyline. This really is an open world game even with it's limitations in comparison BoT. GameFreak did their own thing and I think it fits perfect. Graphics and the "barren" landscape I've heard discussed haven't effected my satisfaction at all. In fact I've come to really enjoy the world and like that it seems less "noisy". Highly agree with the 9/10! This game is surprisingly more sophisticated and intuitive than I expected. It's truly a pokemon game!

WIth the budget Gamefreak has, they are expected to make a good game.
Just be honest now, this is just "acceptable", because the standards with pokemon games are so damn low.
You can't seriously rate this game as high as for example Monster Hunter World, but still everyone if fine with the high ratings somehow, thus Gamefreak is still not compelled to actually put some love into their games.

I feel like this is a 9 out of 10 Pokemon game, and a 7.5 or 8 RPG. The things that make this game so great are the doors that it opens for the franchise, not so much the game itself. Granted, the game is fun, but there's still so much ground to be covered.

It's actually a very interesting take on the Pokemon gameplay but it seems to have too much influence from the breathe of the wild. The world seems to be quite empty too.

I'd give this a 7.5 at the lowest, there are definitely flaws and frustrations, but not the whole "it looks like crap" or "they definitely could've done way more, they had the funding" crap, the whole multitasking that happens on screen is enough to overwhelm me at times, 22 hrs in, 5 star, and somehow I'm not even halfway there, just been too busy doing other shit

I bought it and I’ll admit that it’s fun, but also supremely flawed and feels cheaply slapped together imo. I think I fall more along the lines of Charlie’s MoistMeter Review at about 60%… They could have made it so much better with more music, voice acting, better story, etc… They got the funding that is for sure! 💯

Appreciate the review but this game is far from a 9. I’d say a 7 at best and that pushing it. The bad graphics, story, music and lack of voice acting push this game down for me. They are moving in the right direction but at a snails pace. Enjoying the gaming. Peace ✌️.

Idk why people want this game to fail so much. We finally get an overhaul in the mechanics and an open area style game. Yes it’s not perfect but it’s by no mean a bad game. Catching and completing the Pokédex has never been so fun although I know to get the 100% will be Grundy to get the objectives complete
