Building a Barndominium 5: Framing Windows

In this episode of Building a Barndominium, we start framing windows. Now that the roof is mainly sheathed, we can straighten the walls perfectly plumb and start installing windows. Windows and doors are one of the huge benefits to using post frame building technology for a structure. Not needing all the structural headers and being able to install windows and doors inside of a bay anywhere you want is a huge advantage.

I am a retired master carpenter, I agree.. When you have a post frame, you don't need any structural internal walls and designing the house is a dream.. Almost anything goes... I know a few people who went that way and they spent about half of what a stick frame would have cost... Keep up doing what you're doing, even of it is the same thing you already explained in another video, remember, this could be a video where someone is watching you for the first time.. Back when I was building, I always explained to the new young carpenters what I was doing and all the tricks I could, while other carpenters got mad for me sharing trade secrets.. If you don't share, your skills & wisdom will fade with you... Loved this episode and love watching you explain what you are doing and why you're doing it...

The entire roof is floating, meaning that there are no bearing walls at all inside the house. This lets you have thoes amazing 2 story+ Vaulted ceilings and giant open concept great rooms. I LOVE it !!!

What`s really nice about your building is the speed that it becomes enclosed, and you don`t have to design the interior around bearing walls. It`s entirely an open floor to work with.. I`m past that age now to build a new home, but if I wasn`t I would definitely go with your type of
