In a meeting last week our visitor's first question was "who's is the GR Yaris?" to which my boss retorted "didn't you see my Tesla?". Like you say, the GR is an insane choice - to most people. Who wants to be most people.

The magic of the GR Yaris is you don’t even need to find that B road to appreciate it, I enjoy the way it drives and the manual box and mechanical feel even on the daily driver trips. But when you do find that quiet B road, oh boy….

What makes the Yaris such a special car is the fact that it was created specifically for rally and racing. Unlike many homologation specials that are based on existing road car platforms and suitably modified for rally / race, this car was created first as a competition car (bespoke platform and engine) and then adapted for road. In spirit that is closer to the Group B rally cars of the 80s than Group A. So the compromises we experience with it as a road car is because it is race car first, road car - well you had to sell these to qualify for the WRC - second. And precisely because of that, it is special. If you care about space, visibility, refinement luxury etc, get a Golf or a GR Corolla. If you want to experience a proper competition car, get this. I’m am simply thrilled with mine. Though I had to sell my beloved Civic Type R FD2 for it, it is truly a worthy successor.

Loved this video, and I love my GR Yaris. When I try to explain to people "what" the yaris is, I tell them it basically drives like a late 90's early 2000's jdm sportscar, but in a modern package with just the right ammount of tech. I sold my E36 M3 built for track use after I bought the yaris, because the yaris is more fun to drive, and is probably faster with just a few mods. Its so good.

I live in Norway where Tesla's are everywhere. I could get a top specced Model 3 for less than a GR Yaris, but I bought the GR Yaris. The Model 3 is a soulless boring small boat. Sure it has straight line, but the GR Yaris is FUN.

Very good clip. I am watching all old ones regarding GR Yaris because I've just ordered my own - 2024 spec. I cannot wait I got it. I was driving Gt86 for 4, 5 years and over 105.000 km, I hope Yaris will give me at least the same amount of pleasure.
