How do I register as a dentist in The Netherlands

As a foreign (non European) qualified dentist (or other healthcare worker) you will need to register with the Dutch Health Authorities.
The B.I.G registration process applies to all healthcare practitioners working, or planning to work, in The Netherlands.
This video is a simplified breakdown of understanding how to approach the process of having your foreign qualification acknowledged by the B.I.G Register, and ultimately emigrate and work in The Netherlands if you are a dentist, doctor nurse etc.

Hello. I am writing to you from Azerbaijan. I graduated from the faculty of dentistry in Azerbaijan. Then, I received specialization training in Pediatric Dentistry in Turkey and became a Specialist Pediatric Dentist. I am currently studying Dutch. I want to be a dental hygienist in the Netherlands. What can I do to become a dental hygienist in the Netherlands? Which exams should I pass? I would be very happy if you could help me. Thank you.

Hello Dr reynhard
I’m an Egyptian dentist who is planning on immigrating to the Netherlands to continue my career there.
I just found out that starting from January 2024, the AKV test won’t be required.
So do you recommend I reach a B2+ level first then apply my documents to the BIG and apply for the BI Toest ?

Hi! Thank you for all the info you are sharing!
I am a dentist from Chile and I dream of working in Europe. I have a doubt about the documents sent by mail, do they have to be in Dutch and with a certified translation? Or they can be sent in English (I guess that has to be certified too since my native language is Spanish)

*Great video!!!. Please I need to know some things: I am a Cuban Dentist and right now I work and live in Cuba but I will obtain my Spanish Passport relatively soon and I will go to The Netherlands(GOD FIRST). My biggest desire is to become a Dentist in The Netherlands.  I was wondering if preparing myself by using Internet reviewing, for example using Dental Decks (National Board Dental Examination: EEUU standarized Dentist's test) and learning Dutch could I apply¿¿??. (I also know some things about French because I love learning other languages). I mean: to be a Dentist graduated in Cuba is not "a discriminatory situation" for registration as a Dentist in The Netherlands?. I have passion and so good vibes about all this!. It will be wonderful to know if any other Cuban Dentist was successful in this proccess. ¿¿??
