The race for hypersonic missiles is already in full swing except someone forgot to tell the United States. Check out today's insane new video to find out why the US is lagging behind China and Russia in the development of hypersonic missiles.

Something to consider: the US DoD does not boast about its new technology. We don’t know what the US has or doesn’t have. It really is that simple. Strategic ambiguity.

To be honest looking at the Ukraine War I really doubt Russia has more than 10 hypersonic Missiles. Wouldn't be surprised if China sold them either a design or a missile itself.

In July this year the U.S. successfully tested its hypersonic missile the AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) The ARRW is a boost-glide system that uses a rocket to accelerate a missile to hypersonic speeds before releasing a hypersonic glider which coasts toward the target at speeds in excess of Mach 5.

You do realize a couple of years ago the US bragged about a test in which it successfully shot down a nuclear missile over 3000 miles away 1 hour after launch. It was not a big brag, but a small one. That was definitely a successful test of a hypersonic missile.

The US has also always had a pretty good classified defence system, such as the F117 and others so things that we know in the public arena are most likely not what they actually are.

Would you have thought the US weapons would be so detrimental to the Russian military before they invaded Ukraine? Who knew?

I don’t believe the Russian or Chinese hypersonic missiles are nearly as maneuverable as shown - They’ll probably be hard to track because of the plasma shock wave, which would also make it harder for them lock on to & track targets

If the US had one we wouldn’t even know it.

I love the little worked up sounds they make when they communicate lol.

Considering what the war against Ukraine revealed about Russia im skeptical about the capacity of their hypersonic missiles. China on the other hand seems more capable of doing so

One main reason is simple…china and Russia don’t care about accuracy as much, since they want them to increase their nuclear threat. The US would rather attempt to develop hypersonics that can actually be used, for instance conventional hypersonic missile to take out naval vessels. Also, what Russia has used so far isn’t what people are thinking of as hypersonic missiles…strapping a rocket engine on a missile launched from a jet isn’t that hard…or that useful.

@0:18 Lemme stop you right there Infographics, as the US laughs in AN/SEQ-3 (for the Navy) and the Striker based Guardian (for the Army) laser point defense systems. It's easy to fall behind on hypersonic missiles when you decide to skip hypersonic and go straight to the speed of light.

Got to see awesome tests of this stuff back in 2012. Ours will work, theirs won’t. That’s the difference.

Something missed in this video and something I think is important to keep in mind is. The us is more focused on intercepting hypersonic missiles as opposed to creating them. The reason for the hyper sonic missile is to defeat anti missile tech. However the war in Ukraine has proven the us has no problem defeating Russian anti missile defenses with conventional missiles. So far in Ukraine there has been no us advanced munition intercepted by Russia. And the bridge in Crimea appears more more likely to have been struck by a missile which according to Russia isn’t possible. Also something to mention which was briefly covered by this video is to call Russian and china’s hyper missiles functional is a stretch. Plenty of videos of these missiles failing immediately after launch in the field exists. Also the real truth is if Russia and china have the tech and have it kinda working the likelihood the us has it and is keeping it secret is highly probable. No reason for the us to admit to having the tech.

One great point made in this video is the fact that nuclear warheads on hypersonic missiles are not relevant since any nuclear attack from Russia or China, hypersonic or not, will ultimately lead to total destruction. Seeing how inaccurate Russian missiles are on the battlefield in Ukraine, their hypersonic missiles are going to be even worse. We might be late to the party, but I don't think that is a major concern in the short term.

They choose not to. Why develop hypersonic missiles when you can be developing counters to it?

For some reason the US is not that worried about hypersonics it makes me think they already know how to shoot them down with AI

When it comes to missiles, why throw Lamborghinis when the enemy has trouble with Corollas?

I know we don't have too many of them inactive service at the moment but we can use laser-based weaponry there's nothing faster than light and we do have a cruiser/warship that has one already.

After having read Area 51 and the Pentagon's brain by Annie Jacobsen, I don't believe any hype about US military shortcomings in the News.

On paper: Russia has 10000 hypersonic missles and 5000 nukes. In reality: Russia has 10 working nukes and 2 prototype hypersonic missles that they can't find repair parts for any of it.
