The Resilient Band and The Reborn Project

The Resilient is an American rock band primarily composed of severely wounded U.S. combat veterans, whose focus is writing and performing music that reflects the inspirations and hardships they've experienced in both their civilian lives and military careers. In October 2024 USA Warrior Stories met up with the band before their show at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, NY. We spoke with guitarist Nate Kalwicki (U.S. Army Veteran), vocalist Tim Donley (USMC Veteran), drummer Juan "Dom" Dominguez (USMC Veteran), guitarist Greg Loman and bassist Erik Kalwicki about forming The Resilient and The Reborn Project, a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to bringing their message to audiences around the USA.

The expression of music can help people feel good about themselves. It is especially true in assisting in recovery following a traumatic accident of a physical or psychological nature where the body acquires a permanent disability. 50 years ago I became a paraplegic as the result of a violent off road motorcycle accident(thrown 70 feet) that has made me dependent on a wheelchair for mobility. Music has been a constant companion of mine and it has helped me maintain optimism in my physical and mental health.
