Filmed in North America's most diverse setting, New York City, Resilient is a stark telling of the songs message through the grace of the dancers bodies and reflections on the poetics. The video was made to be simple, stark, and direct, engaging the viewer into the intimate space of each artist. We wanted to strip away the clutter of objects and centralize the song on our common humanity. Our eyes. Skin tones. Muscles. Smiles. Power. Each dancer responded both with choreography and improvisation to what resilience meant to them personally, and we sang the words straight into the camera to bring the listener in close to this intimate song. Resilient is meant to be a tangible, graspable, relatable folk song for people of all backgrounds and walks of life.

I am 70 and I shared this with my 22 year old granddaughter. Bringing the gaps. Thank you.

I negate the chaos, uplift the negative....I'll show up at the table again and again and again...I'll close my mouth and learn to truly an anthem for these times.

You ever felt like you were traveling through years and experiences, looking for a place to fit. Like a child, under a wooden patio, matching rocks together. That satisfaction of finding two pieces, that fit so snugly together. When those two rocks fit beautifully, that exact feeling is how I feel when I listen to these two sing.
Home.
I haven't felt that feeling in too many spaces in my life. But you make me feel like I'm home. And I can't thank you enough for that.

This song vibrates in my soul. I danced down the runway to it as a Breast Cancer Survivor for a BUST Breast Cancer fundraiser -- and now my cancer is back and I'm dancing to it again. I so hope you all will be back down in the Louisiana area again so I can see/hear you in person. I could watch Quentin Robinson dance for hours.

I am resilient
I trust the movement
I negate the chaos
Uplift the negative
I’ll show up at the table, again and again and again
I’ll close my mouth and learn to listen

These times are poignant
The winds have shifted
It’s all we can do
To stay uplifted
Pipelines through backyards
Wolves howlin out front
Yeah, I got my crew but truth is what I want

Realigned and on point
Power to the peaceful
Prayers to the waters
Women at the center
All vessels open to give and receive
Let’s see the system brought down to its knees

I’m made of thunder
I’m made of lightning
I’m made of dirt (yeah)
Made of the fine things
My father taught me that I’m a speck of dust
And this world was made for me
So let’s go and try our luck

I got my roots down, down, down, down
Down, down, down, down, down, deep

I got my roots down, down, down, down
Down, down, down, down, down, deep

So what are we doing here? What has been done?
What are you gonna do about it when the world comes undone?
My voice feels tiny and I’m sure so does yours
But put us all together we make a mighty roar

I am resilient
I trust the movement
I negate the chaos
Uplift the negative
I’ll show up at the table, again and again and again
I’ll close my mouth and learn to listen

The solo male dancer is so in line with the message. His movements are a combination of relaxing and flexing his muscles. It’s a beautiful way of realizing the masculinity of flexing (doing) and the feminine of stillness and calm (being). Part of us is the arrow, pointing and moving and penetrating. And part of us is the cup, grounded and receptive - an observer. May we all be man, woman, child and god.

I envision a world which has renewed its emphasis on beauty, nature, and love through the resurgence of creativity, art, and aesthetics. And I see this as a fabulous demonstration of that vision...

This line has carried me through so much in this life

When I first was shown this song, it was after a Xavier Rudd concert. A couple met me, and told me this was a gift they wanted to share. The next day, I travelled to the countryside in a foreign country to go learn a new language. I listened to this almost on repeat. It was like the dawning of a new character in my story.

I remember being completely alone there, during a morning walk in the woods, and realising that I couldn't roar. I played the song until that moment, but I couldn't join them. That's how silenced I was. I'm soft spoken, and non-confrontational, except in the defence of others. I couldn't bear to enunciate my own voice, even when there was nobody to hear.

I still can't, but I'm getting closer everyday. Meeting part of this tribe has helped immensely.

This song has lifted up my life. Re-finding Rising Appalachia has given me a renewed sense of the heart revolution going on today. That the social revolution that occurred before has lived on and grown. People say the dream was lost, but it wasn't! It has grown like the tree of life ~ many beautiful branches, like this song.

Everytime I hear this song it takes me to Heyoka Camp at the Rock.

Thank you sisters. For keeping me singing "I close my mouth and learn to listen" under my breath a thousand times a day.

For digging my roots a little deeper.

And for being such amazing examples of what we can teach this world.

My love is with you.
