10 Hidden Gems of 1970s Cinema Hollywood Buried

Hollywood buried these films so deep, you'd think they were hiding evidence. . A murder mystery written by Norman Bates and Sweeney Todd. A road movie where Pacino and Hackman get beat down by America. And a Barbra Streisand comedy that accidentally made $66 million. These aren't forgotten for being bad—they're forgotten because studios had no idea what they were looking at.

The same movies show up on many of these lists. These definitely aren’t buried gems. Most are considered classics and definitely remembered.

Straight Time, 1978, with Dustin Hoffman is a great one. I always recommend it.

I recently dug up a copy of Slither with James Caan and Sally Kellerman. It's a unique oddball film and the two of them had a very amusing chemistry. All but forgotten, but a fun ride.

I am from India and I have heard about most of the movies. A couple of them are even on OTT now!

“The Last of Sheila” has a great cast, and excellent acting, and I love a good murder mystery, but something is missing from the film. I do love the tart dialogue, though.

What’s Up Doc? Is not buried by any means. It’s part of a golden age of comedies.

These all have been available to stream as of recently. How about Straw Dogs 1971? That’s never available!

Interesting review of some great movies. But do we have to hear Roger Ebert quoted as nauseum as if he were the god of critics?

There needs to be an easy way to access lesser known movies and documentaries

Krypto is appearing in Superman (DC Comics). If a dog joins the Avengers it would win the hearts of the audience.
