Emperor of the North(1973) should be on the list.

Sorcerer (1977), Friedkin's adaptation of Wages of Fear might also be a good one for the list. Overshadowed by Star Wars which was released a week or so later, it was a flop but also a fantastic film that was lost in limbo for good while.

Little Big Man, 1970, is a masterpiece. The book, by Thomas Berger, is even better.

While at UCLA, my girlfriend heard from her friend that MCCABE & MRS. MILLER was an interesting film. We drove 30 miles and saw it’s last screening on its last night at the second-run State Theatre in Pasadena. There were only 2 others in the auditorium. We were blown away. It was like seeing the unveiling of a masterpiece. As we left the theatre, a worker was up on a ladder removing the M-C-C-A-B-E red plastic letters from the theatre's marquee. Thank you Robert Altman, Julie Christie and Warren Beatty. The GF became and remains my wife. She doesn't remember that night at all.

Perfect list. All of those films possess a specific texture and atmosphere rarely seen now. I only would have added The Friends of Eddie Coyle and or Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.

Many of these films have been restored and are still heralded by critics. To say that Hollywood has somehow forgotten films like McCabe and Mrs Miller or The Conversation (both now available on 4K) seems grossly exaggerated.

Blue Collar was an outstanding film. Simple, direct and gritty, but with the kind of texture and depth lacking in most films made in the last 30 years.

You named a Saturday Matinee lineup I watched one weekend at a time in the 70's. Every one of these films ended up on one of the four channels we had back then. It was a magic time!!

The Conversation is Coppola's Masterpiece, even beyond The Godfather. All of these are wonderful pics. It was a magical movie making era.

I saw McCabe and Mrs Miller and What's Up Doc a number of times at a drive in. I enjoyed both of them.

Just goes to show that if you are sick of the crap being made today there is an endless supply of great Cinema in back catalogue releases. One of the reasons why physical media still has a market

Assault on Precinct 13 is far from forgotten. Scream Factory put out a special collector's edition of the movie. For those who don't collect physical media, maybe rethink that. You would be surprised to find how many gems have gotten awesome upgrades with tons of extras about the film.

1978 Allen first drama. Very somber but I always remember and loved the sets.

I woke up restless one night in 2019. Micky and Nicky was listed on streaming for free. That movie stuck with me a long time. The dated aspect of city life in the late 60s early 70s mesmerized me. Right down to the beer in the little pilsner glasses.

a bit late, but
TENDER MERCIES (1983) ...Bruce Beresford directs Robert Duvall as a broke-down country singer washed up all lonely at the back gate of a lonely town and somehow things get less lonely. A very quiet and beautiful film
