What a brilliant video! immediately I recognized that my swing needs this athletic downward pressure you explained so well. I have played 17 years swinging quite smoothly but especially the iron play is lacking the pressure to the ball. This was a wonderful video!!! PLEASE expand on this idea further. I am exactly like your student, sweeper of the golf ball. However, my miss is a thin shot not a chunk. This video was the first I have ever seen describing the idea and movement in this way. So, I hope you will tell us more!

Even though I was a 2, I always felt like I was getting away with something. My ball striking was never really satisfying, my divots were just barely below the top of the turf, but I could scrape the ball around courses and get good scores with my short game. I look forward to taking this ball striking lesson out to the range. It makes sense to me. I have always tried to swing toward the target, as you describe as a mistake here, fearing that a downward move into the ball was a "ball oriented" approach. So here is my question: How does one stay target oriented while they are concentrating on hitting down on the back of the ball? What am I missing here?

Thanks Danny,    I'm a thru striker with no divot. I hit well mostly, but my misses are behind the ball.  I tried you're technique at the range on mats and it worked well.  Not sure how it will translate to grass.
