There's no such thing as too much camshaft, only not enough engine.

And during the 'overlap' period what is occurring to cause the chop is known as 'reverse pumping' when some of the fresh intake charge (air & fuel) gets pumped right back out into the intake. At higher RPM the 'effect' of overlap causes 'near supercharging' because of the momentom of the intake charge. That's what puts you back in yo seat. lol

Love these shorts! I don't get to see many US made cars where I'm from but I hope to have a couple someday. Also attend dragweek, hopefully.

You do a great job on explaining to people!

As a LS owner I feel attacked! Btw appreciate it, was wondering how I could get more chop 🤣

Most tuners tune it out. The chop is litreraly just wasting fuel, with valve timing they tune the bigger cam into it, so instead of running for a set rpm window like in the old days, now you can tune the entire powerband

This was a very good way of explaining it in under a minute. I've been loving this channel I just found and going through some of this older stuff when I get the chance. I've even posted a choppy idle video, one of many out there.

Reversion during the same reason rotaries that have their port timing altered through porting lope at idle ( bridge port through peripheral porting styles )

Very true about the overlaps. I knew this since jeep track hawks. I love that overlapping idle ❤❤

Spot on! And they make power in the high rpm with the scavenging effect when the two are open, as the air is going out essentially it’s drawing air in cylinder as well, higher the rpm the more efficiently it draws more air into the cylinder. More air more power.

Great video bro. I have a c6 ls3 vette. Getting her cammed, full exhaust, cai and a tune. Excited to hear that chop chop and those headers. I don’t know much about cars. This video helped. Loool I didn’t even catch that ls you put in there until I watched a second time 😂

You didn't talk about the exhaust pulses though. That plays a huge part in the sound. Along with the fact most American V8 motors are a cross plane design motors.

You make the best engine related videos on the net !

Engineer from comp also noted an early opening of exhaust makes it louder, a slow profile gives the note more bass or thump, , while an aggressive profile gives it more of a tinny or sharp pop for each exhaust pulse.
