DISCLAIMERS ON FORMATS COVERED:
Notice I said POPULAR formats, meaning a format where there is a significant amount of people who compete in it for tournaments and so on and so forth.

For the record, I do not care what rules or formats people play their battles by nor am I saying these formats are the only formats that should be played. The way you play Pokemon is between you and your opponent. I just like examining popular tournament formats.

I love how gen 6 Vigoroth looks like a bully, beating up a bunch of kids

The fact that Vigoroth, a non fully evolved Pokemon, has "GOOD" in the title while Slaking has "BAD" in the title just goes to show how terrible of an Ability Truant is

I like to call Slaking a “Lazy Legendary” since it has the stats of a legendary Pokémon but is just too lazy to care

Vigoroth being banned in Gen 6 PU while Slaking was untiered is absolutely hilarious

A golbat, Aron, and Swampert for Norman? That takes confidence lol

I remember being discouraged by Slaking getting Truant again as a kid, so I gave my Vigoroth an Everstone.

I didn't expect Vigoroth to be done before Kadabra/Abra in the not fully evolved series.
I won't complain though, it keeps us on track with the gen 3 streak of the last few months

Slaking: I can't believe I got outclassed by my own pre-evolution

Dusknoir and Raichu: First time?

I love how all the huge competitive monsters have been covered (for the most part) so wrecking PU is a huge accomplishment. I just find it funny how there’s things like Deoxys who destroyed literally everything and was banned, and then there’s Vigoroth, who could only beat PU.

Slakoth: Lazy fat child years.
Vigoroth: Hyperactive teenage years brought on by hormones with massive weight loss due to increased activity.
Slaking: Married with children jaded adult years, could easily wipe the floor with everyone's face but just wants to pass the time eating Cheetos and watch TV till the reaper comes. If provoked or shown something motivating enough, becomes unstoppable.

Vigoroth: Can't be untiered if you aren't fully evolved.

Imagine Vigoroth having a second evolution where it didn't turn lazy again, something like a regional variant of sorts, that'd be pretty cool.
But as it stands now, a second stage evolution, Vigoroth is quite fierce.

I love when these nfe Pokémon make it big in lower tiers, can’t wait for a Trapinch or Ferroseed video somewhere down the line

What a surprise? I'd never expect a Vigoroth video!

It’s kinda hilarious that Vigoroth has some good stats and eviolite make it even better, but when actually looking at it….. there’s a lot of mons that are maybe better. Regardless I wanna learn about this thing!

Vigoroth shares a lot with Duskclops. Both were introduced in Gen III, have a evolution that outclasses them in raw power and bulk, and but had their niches in tiers below their evolutions. Gen V completely flipped that with the introduction of Eviolite to give some love to non-fully evolved mons. It's seems GameFreak is adamant of not buffing Dusknoir and Slaking so they will likely continue existing in obscurity. Without eviolite, so will dusclops and vigoroth. Vigoroth will always be fun to use in it's debut gen.

OMG YES VIGOROTH!! My favorite Pokemon.

Vigoroth definitely deserved a hidden ability but the only reason it doesn't have one is to keep truant on slaking. I wish there were a work around for it

This video reminded me that, as a kid, I did a Gen 3 playthrough without evolving my Vigoroth cause I thought Truant was such a dumb ability.

3D Vigoroth looks like it's in a rap battle.

Vigoroth can slack off, but it can never actually rest. It's more than making up for all the time it lazed about as Slakoth.
