Why Ukraine's counteroffensive is moving slower than Zelenskyy would like

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted earlier this week that progress in his country's counteroffensive had been "slower than desired." Why are Russian lines proving harder than expected to break? BBC News correspondent Mayeni Jones has more on that.

The counter offensive has not even reached the first line of defense, there are up to five in most areas. At what point does it just become untenable to keep up this level of propaganda?

Its not 'moving slowly', its stuffed.

In a little over two weeks, Ukraine has taken about 10, 000 casualties, lost over a hundred tanks and several hundred miscellaneous armored vehicles. Their greatest accomplishment is temporary occupation of some front line territories; they take some pics, declare half a dozen destroyed houses overgrown in weeds and brush 'liberated' and go back to their own lines.

They apparently expected the Russians to just throw down their guns and run away.

"moving slower than Zelenskyy would like" ... It is already defeated.

Because it's impossibile anything else. It's just your bias. 'Why so much bias?' It's the real question.

Just like western movies, the trailer looks much better than the actual show. Typical.

When the results of your counteroffensive are barely slowing down the enemies own counter counter offensive, it’s not, going great.

Don’t take information from a news outlet that calls an offensive a ‘counteroffensive’ 😂

“President Zelensky is always asking for more assets, but has Ukraine deployed all of assets yet in this counteroffensive”…what kind of leading opinionated questions is that to ask as “news”?

They’ve got absolutely no reason to fight

Because our weak administration didn't have the balls to provide offensive weapons and air support

Why?? um the Russians have guns too. Zelensky regime was adamant about pouring more resources into Artyomovsk as well. Slowed down their build up. Now they are pulling troops from Belarus border and just announced full mobilisation. Once they start dragging people off the street in the party zones Zelensky regime has to worry about internal backlash as well. Ukraine still has plenty of brigades in place but its a serious slog. Russia has a division still slowly crawling through Kremennaya forests. Last Ukraine attacks there were repelled. Ukraine had to move some new nato gun brigades there in case Russia breaks out of the forest and goes for the railway lines. Ukraine makes some gains but Russia also makes some gains. Going to be another couple months of brutal blasting.

This is what happens when you take too long to mount the offensive for whatever reasons . They gave Russia so much time to resupply, move in extra troops, equipment and prepare fortifications . Once they get a weak spot collapsing they need to pour in more forces and overwhelm the Russians so that the next lines of defense retreat also . You can't develop a real deep pincer movement to get behind the main defenses by taking minor bites of the front line . Something has changed in the Ukrainian command philosophy and they have become somewhat apprehensive and a bit dithering . Hopefully that will change soon with a good victory in some location . Time to drop the hammer on the Russian lines and blow them away with overwhelming force . Attacking a bit at a time here and there is actually assisting Russia to manage the offensive better .

Ukraine must tell the America citizens they are winning because why would NATO keep sending weapons if it is not working. The UNITED states has big problems here at home that needs to be address.

Two weeks of counter-offensive, but still no meaningful result? Even Ukraine was unable to reach the first line of defense, they had already lost 15% of the whole Bradley reserve that we had supplied to Ukraine. Total wastage of our equipment, and their manpower. Ukraine still has a long way to reach the RU defense line to achieve a significant breakthrough. Just imagine how many lives and infrastructure could be saved by both Ukraine and Russia choosing peace over this damn proxy war! This is really an excellent example to the people why they should select a proper leader instead of a 🤡

The Offensive failed but Ukraine has time on it's side and Russia doesn't. Putin regime is crumbling while Ukraine still haven't recieved the missing piece of the puzzle to conduct a true Combined Arms Offensive. The F16s and other NATO ground attack jets. If a second Offensive fails again with the jets. Then Zelensky might as well go to the negotiating table with whoever is in charge of Russia next year.
