Hackster's Alex Glow solders and programs the synthesizer part of Arduino's new Make Your UNO Kit – with "all you need to learn how to solder by building your own Arduino UNO and wave synthesizer shield." The beginner-friendly kit includes PCBs for soldering practice and basic circuit logic, plus a dedicated tutorial website with 3D soldering guides.
Part 1 covers the unboxing, kit overview, and soldering the demo circuit and main Arduino board, while Part 2 (this one) covers the programming and synth shield!

Aw, sorry I missed this - I was looking forward to seeing what you thought about the synth! Looks like it was another fun session though.

Like you I shared some confusion about the sample sketches, especially the LED parts and ordering of the pots (which the Mozzi sketch actually drives "backwards" being originally designed for LDRs). After how good all the electronics tutorial side was, I did feel like the example sketches were very "tagged on at the end".

I also thought it a real shame that access to GPIO from the synth shield isn't easy. As I've said elsewhere I do recommend using extended pin headers on the shield to allow you to plug extra things in (like the "missing" LEDs!).

If anyone is interested in some further experiments, I have some more examples that I've tailored to fit the kit on my website (I don't seem to be able to post the link without YouTube "eating" the comment!)

Here is a full list of additional experiments if anyone was interested in having a few more things to read about and do:
* Simple tones
* Mozzi experiments
* Adding GPIO
* Drum machine
* MIDI IN
* MIDI Mozzi FM synth

I'd recommend using Blu Tack to hold things in place when soldering from the other side...

That laugh 😂
I make that one when I accidentally shock myself or when something works in a weird way and the ocd makes me want to figure it out more than keep going..

It would have been nice if the solder had been stored inside your solder station and travelled up inside the cable from the solder station to the tip of your soldering iron so you just press a button to feed more solder to the tip of your soldering iron and would free up one of your hands.

Hi Alex, That was very brave of you doing all that apparently live. Did you have to tweak anything to get it working (and edit it out)? (ps - I skipped through most of the build, as I already know how to solder).
