Porter Airlines is adding more seats, routes and destinations.

Aviation analysts say the expanding carrier has its work out for it as it attempts to establish itself as a contender with lasting power in the Canadian market.

Global's Anne Gaviola has more on Porter’s plans and why the carrier is choosing to buck the low-cost, no-frills trend in flying.

We flew Porter to Orlando and we had a great experience! Free wiki, no middle row seats, quick boarding process, and quiet engine!

The Canadian aviation industry needs this and Porter to be successful to keep Air Canada and WestJet from monopolizing the market and continuing to force their customers to tolerate what are objectively sub-standard or mediocre services to customers. If Porter is a success it will inspire more competitors to enter the market boosting the economy in the industry, elevating the standards across all carriers, and increasing affordability which further goes to boosting the related economy creating a positive feedback loop.

Took Porter on my flight back from Las Vegas and I was impressed. Friendly staff, quick boarding, arrived on time, and really enojyed the Embraer E195-E2 jets.

We will never fly Air Canada or WestJet as long as Porter is available. I believe they have figured out the formula for our market and their service is second to none!

Porter is easily the best airlines in Canada. Amazing leg space, seating and boarding process.

My wife flew with them to Florida and loved it she found it better than any other airline, I really hope they succeed with the expansion. If they ever expand to cover the Caribbean they will be our first choice

It’s no easy task but in order for Porter to success they must fill in the shortfalls of what AC or WS not able to offer like, OTP, solid customer service and reliability of service. For customer to pay a bit more for the above services, I am sure Porter will success. I wish them the best

Flew from SFO to Pearson and it was nice experience with no middle seat and good in flight services. Except that only two desks was opened at check in and we had a long back log. Hope this is been sorted out by now

Long time Porter flyer. Used them exclusively for some time when for work I had to travel to Toronto’s financial district a few times a month.

Recently flew Porter to Winnipeg and return with WestJet and have to say Porter was vastly superior in every way. Having more domestic air travel options in Canada is a good thing. Hopefully they can make their model sustainable because they are head and shoulders above the others in service and customer experience.

I love porter, they are so convenient and the staff is very friendly. However. the old Dash-8's are in need of some serious updating, they are realling showing their age vs. the newer Embraers (which also offer free wi-fi, something that the Dash-8's are lacking entirely). Looking forward to their new terminal in South Shore Montreal, that should be another interesting differenciator vs. Air Canada.

My one and only service related gripe is the seats on the Q400 took a step down in quality, the metal bar in what can only be described as the frame of the seat in the back dug into my lower back the entire time when I flew too and from Boston, other than that the service is immaculate and I signed up for ViPorter the moment I got home. If only they flew to more places out of Toronto City Airport.

I work at a major airport, and I witness them cutting corners daily. I just saw them take off in a snowstorm without deicing. This is not a one-off incident. They do it repeatedly to save costs.
