FIRST MPG Test- Diesel OMEGA CAR - Video 2 of 3

After waiting 10 years, Casey Putsch dusts off his creation and gets real world MPG data to see if his invention will be the sustainably recyclable automotive industry game changer he envisioned after being angered by the lies of American politicians in 2008. This video is the second of three and is the first MPG test. This was a precise test, but the car was driven without aerodynamic body panels and final tuning and still achieved over 104 MPG non-highway driving. Casey's next goal in to only burn 1 ounce of diesel per mile or to achieve 128 MPG. The third video will be 0-60mph testing against a Tesla Model 3, a C7 Corvette, and a Dodge Viper RT/10. What car will be faster?

Your garage can charge a Tesla full for $10 to get ~300 miles while you sleep.

"you dont have to be a freak, blocking highways to say you care about the environment, it doesnt mean squat" is such a real statement.

Here because of Tucker. I know nothing about cars but just curious.
I wish you all the success!

This the kinda car you unlock after achieving 100% completion in a video game.

Honored you all are watching! This was proof we all can achieve our ideas and dreams. Be the change you want to see in the world.

I saw your interview with Tucker last night, and was extremely impressed with your vision, attitude, and motivation. Seeing and hearing someone who's not so quick to discount the technological and engineering achievements of the past gives this old man a little more hope for the future.
I've always believed that maximizing the use of things that we already have is every bit as important as making new things. We see smart, self sufficient homesteaders doing this every day.
The use of diesel allows you to use a fuel that's readily available. But even more important is that it can be produced and manufactured in a variety of ways, including the conversion of waste products that would otherwise have no value whatsoever.
Stick with your KISS philosophy (Keep It Simple Stupid) and hopefully we'll be able to get back to the days when the cost of daily transportation was only a small fraction of the average working man's income, as opposed to the home mortgage size payments of todays new cars, trucks, and SUV's.

As an engineering student who drives an old VW TDI that I rebuilt myself, this video series has inspired me to begin trying to see what I can modify about my car to increase its efficiency. Keep up the good work, it's very inspiring!

In this world full of politics, lawyers, laws, media, some times people gotta do the extra mile to make a difference. This is a proof that our whole system is so incredibly inefficient, but hey it is what it is! Can't wait for part 3!

Congratulations on achieving 104.7 mpg! Many years ago, one of my first jobs out of tech. school was test car driver with Standard Oil in Cleveland. The fleet was brand new vehicles fitted with analog computers to chart mph & distance, and vacuum-in-mercury gauges. I became quite adept at achieving very good, consistent fuel mileage, which ensured my position on the team, and helped me later in racing with smooth throttle application. Your testing & data acquisition with the Omega (which has an excellent Cd) took me back to those days. Now...on to the drag strip!

In 1988 I went on spring break from college with three friends. We drove from Ohio to Daytona Beach and back in my buddy's VW Golf with a turbo diesel and manual transmission. We filled the tank before we got on the road so we could figure out our MPG for the trip. That car took us all the way to Florida and back on three tanks of gas. We averaged almost 78mpg on the highway, but "only" 63mpg overall because of the bit of "city" driving we did in Florida while we were down there. That trip sold me on diesel from then on.

4:15 - hearing that door shut says more about the level of detail and precision that went into the chassis design than anything. That definitely caught my attention. I did NOT expect it to have a similar solid sound to an 80s Mercedes S-Class. That is remarkably impressive dude. Kudos!

I've been saying that THIS is the future for at least 20 years. Lightweight, efficient diesel in a relatively slippery body.

I'm probably one of many who are new subscribers thanks to your conversation with Tucker. This is great. So glad to hear someone talking about the fundamental problems with EVs like total system costs in materials and environmental impact (child slave labor in Congo to obtain cobalt, lithium leach ponds), energy usage to create and dispose of them, and sigificant actual development and production costs born by taxpayers rather than 100% by the buyers. Plus they're predominantly charged with oil, coal, and natural gas (because the sun isn't shining at night when most are charging in their garages). I'm heading to video 3 right now.

PROFIT, PROFIT, PROFIT. I’m a 31 year old manufacturing engineer for a tier one automotive supplier (worked 10 years here in north east Ohio for this company), and you are right with everything you said on Tucker. The industry doesn’t care about anything but profit. Profit profit profit.

Look at the big three, they sell more SUVs and trucks and not cars because the profit margins are higher.

Audi started to do this in the early 2000s with the Audi A2 for example but it didn’t sell very well. I considered importing one of them (since they are 25 years old) but couldn’t justify the cost. I’m very interested in this project and will be following along closely!

As someone that loves Cars, Trucks, and Aviation. This car to me screams, 'I'm here and I'm here to stay and show people that EV's are not the best solution for today.' As a person that drives a old Diesel truck from the early 2000's I know that Diesel engines can get crazy efficient when done right and don't have all the restriction on them to be "Clean". Keep up the good work and keep on innovating.

There have been times I've been annoyed while watching your videos and hearing the random complaints, but I have to say I respect you immensely for not sitting idly by and just b#^^=ing. You've done a lot thru Genuis Garage, inspired DIYers, and now seeing whats possible through innovation. It all starts somewhere folks, usually with someone getting out and trying. Good luck with the car and finding the right audience (folks who would work with you on your ideas and concepts), keep moving forward and hope to see more.

My 18' Ford Fiesta 120bhp mk8 1.5 diesel gets 80 mpg going 50mph.... Fast driving it, gets me 60 mpg... Too sad we dropped diesel for electric cars...

Software engineer and fellow Ohioan, I don't know crap about cars, but I know results when I see them. You produce this car at any scale and I will buy one, heck I will drive out from Akron and pick it up. Lets go.
