Mourning geckos are all genetically identical, i.e they are clones. While not incredibly uncommon among reptiles of various sorts, there are only a few species that reproduce only through parthenogenesis.

Due to how they get in the mood to lay an egg, id say an accurate way of describing it is "When a mommy and a mommy mourning gecko love eachother very much"

Yeah there are mostly females but there are some male ones

They actually don't have X chromosomes, they use a ZZ/ZW chromosome system (Volobouev and Pasteur, 1988)

Does that mean mourning geckos are the real life salandit and salazzle line? (The galar region Pokedex entry for salazzle says that only female salazzle can exist for some reason)

Well, they kinda do have daddy geckos, , since there parthenogenic, they have both male and female parts😅
