Install Linux on Android TV Box | amlogic s905x

Having a android tv box is great but what would be better is installing linux on it and use it as a micro server or desktop. in this video i will show you how to do just that with the mecool M8S pro running amlogic S905x. thanks for the view

Thankyou for this excellent suggestion. i am desperate to try this method.

i have a little different situation, hope you can help.
I have S905x3 xair96, its stuck in a boot loop mode. ive tried most possible ways to unbrick it, but its a NO GO.
Since your method has option to boot from SD card, can i do that on my device with your method and then booting it with the hard reset method and then choose boot from SD card. (Will this work?)
Also if the above works, will i have to choose the boot from SD card manually every time if i reboot the device? or is there a permanent solution to set up to boot from SD card since i don't have access to the BOX UI.

the 12 gigs wont be a problem? for installation cuz for ubuntu, u need 25 gigs atleast

Im currently working on a beelink m18. I followed the directions of this video and a bunch of others but I keep getting the same error. When it reboots it gets stuck on the google tv screen? any thoughts?

Will malware etc still be able to run from the firmware? Since you install through Android, that is my concern. I have 3 or 4 905 boxes and a couple others.

well in for a penny in for a pound, . I started this when I got hooked to Kodi. I had a raspberry pie 3 that I loaded libre electric with the Kodi installed. Loved it. then I got this M8s+ first I couldn't get exodus to load but I got Yoda on it. But I missed the libre electric. I thought that someone would put it on my android box and after a little searching I decided I was going to try things your way but right now my brain swimming so I will thank you in advance

Really cool and looks simple! I on my hand have been looking for a solution like this for my MXQ with an S805 cpu. Hoped it would come something but it looks like I have to stick with the standard firmware.
