The song co-written by Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper.
The pictures are from the actual spot where Otis' housboat was berthed, in Sausalito on the San Francisco Bay.
Redding started writing the lyrics in August, 1967 and he completed the song in Memphis with Cropper, a Stax producer and the guitarist for Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
