Ive owned my elan for 26 years, its the most reliable car ive ever owned. Every time i go for a drive it shocks me with its handling and performance. When i bought it i said i would never sell it and i haven't 😊

You can’t keep popping in and out of my life like a wayward dad! I’ve moved on! I have Matt from High peaks autos. He might not be a funny or charismatic but he’s dependable. He’s always there and dropping vids when I’m ready to drop a log. But look at you! Turning up with a brand new BMX on Christmas morning, just to be gone by Boxing Day, leaving mum crying on the kitchen table. 😢

And he's back! I really enjoy this channel. How about a garage update?

I've been driving around in an M100 Lotus Elan for more than a decade. They are lovely to drive - really quite modern feeling. They ride and handle very well, and are mechanically very reliable. They do need ongoing maintenance, as does everything of this age. It is also important to be aware that they are not completely watertight - they leaked a bit from new, and the foam hood and door seals are now largely unobtainable. But the good news is that almost everything else is readily available. Maintenance is generally straightforward too.

On values, I just don't know if they will rocket in value - actually, I don't really care because I own mine to drive. Their production was quite small, but they are very durable, so few rot away. Elans tend to be lost to accident damage and recommissioning costs exceeding the car's low value, leading to scrapping. They probably aren't as scarce as you might think. Also, it wasn't a successful product for Lotus - people didn't want to buy a FWD sportscar - and this will be reflected in its future value.

My conclusion is that you should buy one of these if you want to enjoy it, not because you think you will make money.

Bought an M100 S2 a year ago because the wife refuses to sit in the Exige. It's a marvelous car and I love it to hits. It's the bits that cause an issue though; it took 6 months for new cooling hoses to arrive, and many tidbits are hard to come by. Luckily the M100 community is active, creative and handy with 3D printing 👍👍

Hey leave them metro’s alone!. I had a GTA in the early 2000’s and when I sold it to a scooby and superbike guy, he fricking loved it, he was so excited after the test drive! I only sold it because it was too low geared for motorways without it feeling like the engine was going zip off independently, however, it was an ace laugh on country roads, as were the bogo City’s I had as my first cars.

Oh there you are! Was wondering where you got to. Just hoped you weren't rotting away in some Bulgarian jail cell after your previous shenanigans with Sid 😂

Nice, I agree 100% on your assessment of the M100 Elan...
...Which is why I bought a TVR Griffith.

Don't forget as well that all 1990's classics are becoming eligible for grey import into the US of mother flipping A and therefore there is a larger market than previously.
The Elan, like TVR were featured in Playstation's Gran Turismo, so expect some price rises for that reason too.

Imagine paying £15k for that old fiesta 1.3. Pure madness. I mean is nice to look at.

Hi can't agree with your choice. The Lotus was not a popular car when new so it is not likely to be popular years later. The fiesta, metro, rs ford's sold in their millions and bring back sentimental feelings of nostalgia. Maybe because it was a first car or a car you wish you had. It is the nostalgia that is the most expensive thing.

Was wondering what car this video was about, Lotus was a surprise because I have a 23b bought over 50 years ago, so consider it free except for upkeep, that is far less than the 911, have you seen the recent upgrades in parts prices for Porsche's, any part you thought should probably change soon if you put it off a year is double, um every year of putoff lol

but actually drove one once at a track day. Quite engaging; A lovely critter. However, not successful in the U.S. Why? well...
I questioned every M100 owner on site, and both of them liked it a of them....see what I did there?

6 years ago l bought a 1997 2X4 Toyota Hilux this is in Australia l was a courier and needed a ute for work l servers damaged my ute got wrecked my daughter found the Hilux amd l paid aud $1500 for the Hilux today it is worth aud $5000 to $6000 and l still have the Hilux and my Hilux is in very good running order and because this is Australia older Toyotas and Lexuses appreciate a lot to do with the popularity of Toyota's biggest selling car brand in Australia for the past 26 years and there is the Toyota tax which means second hand Toyota's sell for more than there equivalents from other good Japanese car makers and the Mazda badge along with obviously Toyota badge are sort of considered better than other brands l have actually seen debadged Toyota's driving around and another thing my Hilux is the most desirable configuration is a 4X2 manual petrol 22R engine an ultra reliable engine single cab with an aluminium drop side tray also has air-conditioning an optional extra back when they were sold new and the air-conditioning works a very basic vehicle also very simple and still a lot of original parts and no rust because from the 1990s till now vehicles don't rust in Australia l do know what a problem rust is in the UK
