I think its pretty clear Nintendos focus has been all over the place since the NES supporting different hardware at once. Switch has 100% of their focus and I expect this will continue with the next system.

Timing is everything, PlayStation took over from Nintendo and sega, then Xbox rose up, then PS4 killed it then the Switch found success. All Nintendo needs to do is keep updating the switch every 5 years and never change their hybrid concept and they will win the console war.

Sony ditching Japan doesn't surprise me at this point anymore. It's their loss, though, because I want to play those JRPGs uncensored, so it's either PC or Switch for me.
And seeing all the Japanese developers ditching Sony because of the "Sony check", I think a lot of people will be taking the same stance as me.

PS2 was the best selling system of all time, but its attach rate was terrible because people weren’t buying it for games. They were buying it for a cheap DVD player. Software sales speak far more for the success or failure of a system than install base does, in my book. The same could be said for the Wii. That was the Wii Sports machine and a cheap Netflix box. Considering those factors, Switch is already making a strong case for itself as the most successful console of all time.

Nintendo needs to keep the hybrid concept. No Nintendo pure home console can achieve what the switch achieved.

Hopefully this mean Square is going to do more with the 2D HD aesthetic. Octopath and Project Triangle look amazing while still keeping the old school gameplay.

Nintendo's always struggled with follow up systems due to their decision making. I'm sure if the gamecube had a standard disk drive it would have done amazing well. The library was amazing, also similar to N64. But now Nintendo seems to have learnt that you don't have to change up things just because, if something is going well keep at it. And the current President seems to know that.

Nintendo sitting back watching Sony and Microsoft destroy their fanbase with a rush next gen consoles without games or consoles that bots control that I can't find or afford and now I can patiently wait for a switch pro while continuing playing my current switch and ps4

Oh the money I would pay to have Nintendo scoop up some of Sony's japan studios developers and IP. It would be a dream come true to see something like a Shadow of the Colossus, Gravity rush or dare I say Legend Of Dragoon come to the Switch.
