I think everyone needs explanation:
Land area :
Abbasid: 11-13m km²
Rome : 4.5-5m km²
(Peak)

Wealth:
Abbasid wealth was comparatively lower than Roman empire considering timeline. Net worth irrespective of the timeline goes to Abbasids. But since this comparison depends on timeline, it goes to Roman Empire

Manpower; Irrespective or with respect to timeline, Abbasid had more working people than Roman empire.(comparing prime era)

Long lasted: I realised most of us are confused here. Some of us integrate Roman Republic with Roman empire or Roman Empire with Eastern Roman Empire. First of all, three of them are different states. I couldn't say Timurid and Mughal empire are the same right?. It would be good if you check the definition of an Empire
Roman empire lasted 422 years(according to majority sources)
Abbasid Caliphate lasted 764 years

Conquests:
Most of the Abbasid lands was succeeded lands of their preceding Caliphate, while Roman empire made thier conquests themselves

Battle Strength: Battle strength refers to the strength of the empire in battlefield(it could be weapons, manpower, commanders etc). Abbasids leads this term

Internal affairs:
Abbasids had a weak internal affairs compared to Roman empire. They lost their lands to many other kingdoms and dynasties which raised from their own empire.

Battle strategists-
It is a debatable topic, still out of best 10 commanders or generals from both empires, Roman strategists had more achievements.

External affairs- Abbasid was the first empire to have much external affairs in the history. Events such as Translation movements, Abbasid-Holy Roman alliance, strengthening of Trade routes etc. Makes them get this point .

Innovation:
No explanation needed If you are not subdued in Roman history.

Global Importance: Irrespective or with respective of the timeline, Abbasid's land extend, thier alliances, Innovations, relations with neighbouring territories makes them more globally important.

Alliance- It is understandable that during Roman prime, there wasn't much empires to be civilised as much as them to be allied with them. Abbasid were allied with thier neighbouring Islamic states, Tibetians, Holy Roman empire, Khaganates, Sultanates etc.

Enemies- Roman empire had much competitive enemies but Abbasids faced stronger enemies than Romans. Mongol empire, Crusaders, Tang Dynasty, Byzantine Empire, Umayyad Caliphate are some examples

Historic events- Roman empire had pretty much historic events but comparing to Abbasid (having Fall of Baghdad, Fall of Byzantine empire, Mongol conquests, Crusade wars, Rise of Ottomans, Rise of Sultanates, Islamic Golden age, Fall of Umayyad, Reconquista, Fall of Khaganates, etc.) I think Abbasids could get that point

Stability-Abbasids failed to suppress uprising kingdoms and rebellions. They lost thier lands in following years.

Succession- Roman empire's legacy was carried by thier successors Byzantine empire and Western Roman empire
Even though Abbasids had successors, Roman empire had better Successors.

Roman lasted longer 753bc-1453
If you don’t count the republic and kingdom
It’s 27bc-1453 and if you say the Eastern Roman empire doesn’t count you are wrong
And if you are still stubborn and continue to say the eastern Roman Empire doesn’t count
The western Roman Empire broke in 476 it still had the realm of Nepos and the realm of syagrius (roman rump states)
Which lasted till 486 so it means that
Abbasid 750-1258 = 508 years
Romans 27bc-486 = 513 years
Romans lasted longer

Persians and Romans fought each other for 700 years in more than 1000 battles, and one of them could not defeat the other. But when Khaled Ibn Al-Walid the Muslim leader came he annihilated them all in 4 years. He defeated Persians in 15 battles and defeated Romans in 9 battles.

Romans get global importance, historic events, long lasted and enemies.

explanation:

Long lasted - starting from roman kingdom to the fall of constantinople (753 BCE - 1453 CE) romans would have lasted for 2206 years.

Comparing the Roman Empire directly to the Abbasid Caliphate is complex as they existed in different periods with distinct cultural, social, and economic contexts. However, some aspects in which the Roman Empire might be considered "better" than the Abbasid Caliphate include:

1. **Longevity of Existence:** The Roman Empire endured for centuries, spanning both the Republic and the Imperial periods. This longevity provided relative stability and governance continuity, unlike the more frequent changes in the history of the Abbasid Caliphate.

2. **Contributions to Civilization:** The Roman Empire had a significant influence on language, law, architecture, art, and science. Its legacy remains deeply embedded in European culture. The Abbasid Caliphate also made notable contributions, particularly in the fields of science, philosophy, and culture.

3. **Cultural and Linguistic Unification:** The Roman Empire tended to promote a certain cultural and linguistic unity within the empire, with Latin and Roman culture exerting a strong influence. The Abbasid Caliphate was more diverse in terms of culture and language, encompassing elements from Persian, Arabic, and Greek cultures.

It's crucial to emphasize that these comparisons are simplified, and the assessment of "superiority" depends on the criteria used and the specific historical context. Both empires made significant contributions to the evolution of humanity during their respective dominance.

The Abbasid state was one of the greatest civilizations in history. If it were not for God and then the Abbasid state, I would not have seen science today, numbers, and astronomy with this development today, when the entire world was uncivilized and barbaric, and Europe was in its darkest and barbaric stages. The Abbasid state was a beacon of knowledge, scholars, and seekers of knowledge. This changed its great strength at that time, and we do not forget that even with its fall, there was still a beacon for seeking knowledge, which was Andalusia

Both of these Empires exist at different time, so comparing them is kinda an insult to both of them. While both of them heavily contributed to the development of most the known world. The Roman Empire Lasted much longer. The downfall of the ROman Empire is mostly caused by Corruption, the division of the empire, and invasion of Germanic tribes. While the Abbasid Caliphate got clapped by the Mongols. Well I think The Romans Will also get Clapped by the Mongols. But the Romans Did encounter the Huns which is probably the early version of the Mongols. Well the Roman is already falling by that point.

The Romans would stomp the abbasids, and I think the Eastern Roman Empire should be counted sense it's a state that derived from the Empire and was a price of it same with the Western Roman Empire.
