A great way to explain this. Even on trumpet it will be cool. Thanks for the demonstration of this Leo. 🎷👍🏻

I met Leo in 2019 at a jazz festival in South Africa, a highschool student at the time. One of the coolest weeks of my life so far, was so cool that Too Many Zooz was part of it

His phrasings are always so much fun. Such a unique voice on that instrument.

Leo is one of my biggest musical inspirations and hearing him explain one of his musical hacks is actually so helpful for us jazz folks❤️

I've never heard horn jams like Leo's before. I thought I knew something, then Bam! I'm inspired to practice my sax like never before! Thanks Leo P!

I played baritone sax for a while in high school. I don't remember it being that big. I lugged that thing through several parades in marching band.

2000: “so if you outline a ii-V-I phrase based off of the tritone of the progression you’re playing over, you will be outlining the same crucial tones of the progression, just with the 7ths and 3rds switched (3rds and 7ths). Thusly, your passage will fit in the chord progression. Easy!

2012: “triad pairs are a great way to outline chord changes using upper extensions. Try playing a C triad and D triad over a C13#11 chord and you’ll find that there’s a basic outline and an upper extension outline in that pair. Come up with your own pairs based on different chord - scale relationships.”

2024: “Play these 3 notes which are actually the same note really freaking loud all the time.”

I love that Leo's basically teaching a lesson on bass guitar theory. Making a good rhythm is just universal science.
