### Additional Info for Steps

1. Update Your System
sudo dnf upgrade

2. Enable the Flathub

3. RPM Fusion

4. Multimedia Codecs
sudo dnf install libavcodec-freeworld

5. GNOME Extensions
Just install the Extension Manager, it eliminates all the headaches that GNOME seems to insist on giving users. You'll find it in GNOME Software store.

6. GNOME Tweak
Search for tweak in GNOME Software store and you should find it.

7. Battery Performance
You don't need to bother with TLP, if you feel like you must tweak your battery settings then look up tutorials for how to do that on Power Profiles.

8. Install Apps
This is kind of an obvious one but at this point you should have most apps available where as if you did this before enabling all of those repos and the Flathub then you might not find some of the apps you're looking for and that's why I included it in the video and why it's at #8.

9. Backups
This is a crucial thing to do but there are a ton of options for this. I would recommend doing some additional research for which backup tool would work best for your needs.

Very good idea. Tons of Ubuntu after install videos, but not so much Fedora. Keep it up👍👏

As a subscriber to the show, I’d like to cast my vote for a dedicated video on GNOME extensions.

Been on Fedora KDE since like 2 weeks before the upgrade to version 41. I didn't know about the multimedia codecs upgrade. That was a useful nugget. Version 42 has minimal quirks and none of them affect the performance of the system. Fedora, up to date and as stable as you could hope with so many updates.

This weekend, I tried Cachy OS, Mint, Fedora, and vanilla Arch. I am sticking with Fedora for the time being. This video is an excellent resource

I'm really liking your these types of videos. Reviewing Linux Mint after using it for some while, now this Fedora video! Awesome

I've made the switch from Windows 11 to Fedora Workstation and haven't looked back. I'm particularly impressed by how user-friendly the GNOME desktop environment is—it offers a surprisingly smooth experience for newcomers to Linux. In my opinion, it's even more accessible than the often-recommended Linux Mint for those transitioning from Windows.

If anyone is wondering where the welcome screen is, it's actually called Tour. Just do a search.

This was a very informative video at the right time. I just installed Fedora 42 and was wondering why my .mp4 files are not playing. I like how polished everything seems to be in the GUI.

I've been away from Linux but came back and enjoying the new fedora. It's handling my HP laptop nicely. There's great advice here. Thanks

Awesome video! I've had experience with Ubuntu and Kali, but haven't been in the Linux world in a couple of years. I was so excited to see that the Fedora project has created so many science labs, including a security lab. I was only able to really get Kali to work as a VM in the past. There's always some kind of special attention to pay to distributions and you really explained Fedora 42 well. I tried looking at a couple of other videos, but you really explained it the best and actually said what everything was as opposed to screen captures of everyone's command line and a vague explanation of it. Its like, "What are you really doing, sir? Don't make me break my system." lol It was the sudo dnf update that got me. I'm used to the update, upgrade.
Subscribed. 👍

Having just installed Fedora 42 on my Framework laptop, this video was very handy. I really enjoy the presentation style. So calm and measured. I would really like to see a video that discusses what is required to get it configured optimally for use in gaming as well. Almost every video suggests using other distros like Nobara, CachyOS, PikaOS, etc. I have tried them all and every one of them has some issue with this laptop. Fedora is the only one that seems to work out of the box. Being able to build on that solid base would be extremely helpful.

Thanks for the video. I know how to do shit on linux but most of the time i don't understand the mechanic behind so having some explanation to why and how it work like with de Dnf upgrade is something i like from your video. keep up the good work.

Nice concise video and remember - a backup is only as good as the last time you tried to use it. :)

Thanks for the video. Your English is so clean and minimalist like gnome. I'm doing all of those "To Do" right now. Thanks a lot! ❤
