Mitch listen I was looking for a decent guide on Android Studio but there werent any good sources. There were some guys whose when I tried to listen to them, their pronunciation wasnt good enough or there was some sound issure. In your case.. This is the most up to date and easiest to follow series for Android development. You explained everything very clearly and very well (You actually explained what a Toast was before showing it!). I just have one question: What is the difference between saying "MainActivity.this" vs just saying "this" when creating your Toast? I've seen code samples just pass "this" in for when a method asks for a Context, so I'm a bit confused. Thanks again!

1:14 Hello, how do you do so that when you add the buttons you don't get on top of each other? in the video you put them and there is one button below the other, but when I do it in Android Studio 3.4 the buttons overlap when I put them. Also in the box where you put the text, I get a dialog in orange "Hardcoded string" BUTTON ", I should use @string resource, and when I put the text for the button in the next box, if you show it to me and I do not get error

This is day one for me, so complete noob atm, I tried following your video but as soon as I open the emulator it stacks all of my buttons in the top left of the screen, even with the design showing them all in the middle : / I checked the text side I have Y: 204dp for one button and Y 120dp for the other. any idea why it isnt showing up in the right place ?

Anything other than the Hello world box ends up in the top left check boxs, radio buttons ect

No matter what I do, I cannot get this construct to work: button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() ...using the capital O in the second instance doesn't do anything.

Hi, just began your tutorial. Love them so much and they're so well thought out. Can you explain to me how Log.d works and findViewById? I know you explained them in the video, but some reason I couldn't understand what they're used for and what their syntax is.
