Adding Cameras to motionEye

The process of Adding Cameras to motionEye systems is pretty easy. In this case we'll show how to add cameras two different ways.

The first way is to add a second motionEye-powered Raspberry Pi. The second way is to add an IP camera.

/=============/

To add a second motionEye camera, you'll need to have 2 motionEye-powered Raspberry Pis setup. You'll also need the IP address and the username/password to login.

Pick one of your Raspberry Pis to get started and login to it.

Then, go to the top left corner of the screen where there's a hamburger menu. Click that and then click the dropdown to add a new camera.

In the pop up window, next to the "Camera Type" select "Remote motionEye Camera"

Where it says "URL" enter this:

But replace the 192.168.0.0 with the actual IP address of the second Raspberry Pi.

Next, enter the admin username and password and click OK.

That's all there is to adding an additional motionEye camera.

/==============/

The process is very much the same for adding an IP camera to an existing motionEye setup.

You'll need the IP address of the IP camera as well as the credentials to login.

One other thing you'll need to know is if the URL to access the stream is setup on HTTP or RTSP. You can find that information in the owner's manual or on the manufacturer's website (theoretically).

Login to your Raspberry Pi. Then go to the top left corner of the screen where there's a hamburger menu. Click that and then click the dropdown to add a new camera.

In the pop up window, next to the "Camera Type" select "Network Camera"

Where it says "URL" enter this:

You might have to change http to rtsp depending on the camera you're using.

But replace the 192.168.0.0 with the actual address of the IP camera.

Next, enter the admin username and password and click OK.

That's all there is to adding an IP camera to your motionEye setup.

I've been looking for a well detailed way to do this for hours and I finally found your first video on this with the single camera setup then I followed up with this one because I wanted a multiple camera setup. Thanks so much.

Is this taking up resources on the original pi with the first camera setup?

If you know how, I would love to change the USB camera out for a different model without reimaging my system.

awesome videos. question about adding additional cameras...would it be possible to add a Ring doorbell camera? If they are wireless I wouldn't see why it couldn't but I wanted to see if you know or if anyone has tried.

Do you need a “main” motioneye pi? And can you still use the Wyze app to view the wyze ones after you flash the rtsp protocol to it? Thx a lot! Do you also have an img suggestion for a good start with all things installed for motioneye?

So, Im having trouble connecting an IP camera. I have 4 Hiseeu brand IP cameras (reference: HB612). I've been trying to connect them using RTSP protocol but no luck. I know the ip-addresses of each cam and I've checked ispyconnect for my hardware brand. Im kinda stuck on what to input into the URL when trying to ADD it into montionEyeOS. Has anyone had success with this brand of cameras?

Hi, Thank you very much for the Video. I'm trying to add wyze cam to the motioneye via network camera option but I'm getting the following error-
Failed to connect to 10.0.0.202 port 80: No route to host
Do you know what might be causing the issue?

I am really interested in this but also how you had yourself in a video box which you moved with your mouse. My son is looking to do some vlogging with him on the screen in a box with his gameplay going on in the screen behind him . Any tips? I guess it is in post production some how

How do you set the cameras up to view remotely while not connected to home wifi network? I've done it before but been a few years and cannot figure out how I managed to do it.

Hi..I had a Wyze camera working in RTSP, but it recently changed to where I only have a gray screen in MotionEye. I can view the stream fine in both the Wyze app and using
VLC. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thank you sir,
I've watched your videos over & over..still I've 2-3 issues with MotionEyeOs

1. No matter what I do File-back up on google drive isn't working. Looks easy in your video. I'm missing something.
2. The time-stamp doesn't change from 1970. I've tried everything on GitHub. Still an bedevilled with this.
3. Isn't it possible to install xrdp on this distro? I'm accessing with either putty or browser. No remote-desktop.

Appreciate if you share your thoughts.
