|| mystery song of the day ||
How can you see looking through those tears
Don't you know you're worth your weight in gold
I can't believe that you're alone in here
Let me warm your hands against the cold
A close encounter with a hard hearted man
Who never gave half of what he got
Has made you wish that you'd never been born
That's a shame 'cause you got the lot
Hey, yeah you, with the sad face
Come up to my place and live it up
You, beside the dance floor
What do you cry for, let's live it up
If you smiled, the walls'd fall down
On all the people in this pickup joint
But if you laughed, you'd level this town
Hey lonely girl, that's just the point
Hey, yeah you, with the sad face
Come up to my place and live it up
You, beside the dance floor
What do you cry for, let's live it up
Just answer me the question why
You stand alone, by the phone, in the corner, and cry
Hey baby...
How can you see looking through those tears
Don't you know you're worth your weight in gold
I can't believe that you're alone in here
Let me warm your hands against the cold
If you smiled. the walls fall down
On all the people in this pickup joint
But if you laughed, you'd level this town
Hey lonely girl, that's just the point
Hey, yeah you, with the sad face
Come up to my place and live it up
You, beside the dance floor
What do you cry for, let's live it up
Let's live it up
Live it up
Mmm live it up
Hey yeah you
With the sad face
Come up to my place
Come up to my place baby
Hey, yeah you, with the sad face
Come up to my place and live it up
You, beside the dance floor
What do you cry for, let's live it up
You, with the sad face
Come up to my place and live it up
You beside the dance floor
What do you cry for, let's live it up

Making an anthology in The Boys' universe was a great idea. I for one think 'The Homelander one' very much makes him a better character & I'm thankful it's canon.

Small detail in the face cream episode
He Never leaves the chair; the cream doesn’t change him… it never worked
That story is what played out moments before he died

I was shocked that episode 7 was written by Andy Samberg, I just wasn't expecting it and he did such a good job

I interpreted it as it was all in his head. there never was a relationship, no cat girl, no influencer status. he imaged it all just before the experimental v cream blew his head off

The Homelander one was so sad, because he was so innocent and actually seemed like he wanted to help. He was given Noir as a caretaker and he seemed okay with it but Stillwell twisted and groomed him to believe he was better and he had to care about being the most liked.
I believe Noir could have been a fantastic mentor. He's still shady as the rest of the boys but he gets the job done first of all and shows true compassion. Imagine how differently it would have went had he waited for Noir, or spent more time with Noir to learn from him.

You can instantly tell it was made by Garth because Butcher is constantly saying c*nt and super hero’s are written with zero nuance

I have literally not met a single person that thought episode 5 was even remotely descent

I liked the show but I couldn’t finish the awkwafina episode. Her voice is absolutely grating and pairing that with an episode about actual talking poop completely killed my motivation for the series. I’ll probably go back and finish the series eventually but not today.

Funnily, I just watched Just Stop's video on Diabolical and he went the opposite way of you, claiming the Awkwafina episode was the worst of the bunch. I'd honestly be interested to see you two discuss your different viewpoints since you're both pretty good online critics (albeit with different approaches)

Diabolical is a very special spinoff that doesn't really feel like it shares the same vibe as its main series as it has its own unique charm but still managed to sell this pessimistic nature that pertains in the financially corrupt dehumanizing world of the Boys.

Still, I hope if there is a 2nd season for this then they further build on these stories with a more cohesive tone across the episodes.

My favourite is the one with the Numidians and the divorce where I think you missed the focus of the episode. I think the episode was focused on toxic relationships and how "the spark" isn't enough to make up for deeper underlying issues and lack of communication, compromise and one's willingness to deal with past traumas and personal troubles. The kid was trying to rekindle the spark between her parents. And she succeeded. However, contrary to what romantic movies make us believe, that isn't enough to give them a happy ending as they were simply incompatible.
This also serves, in my opinion, as a small coming-of-age story for the girl, as she becomes disillusioned with the happyly ever after story. Where at the start she thought "love" was enough to keep to people together, in the end, she learns and accepts that a relationship requires work and maturity, two things her parents don't have. This way, instead of leaving the episode on a "oh no, what about the true victims of the divorce, the children?" note, it leaves us on a hopeful one as we're shown that the girl is smart and mature so we can rest assure that she won't repeat their mistakes and will have, when the time comes, a good marriage.

That black noir and homelander origin just became 10x more poignant now didn’t it😂

I love episode 1 but I was on edge throughout the episode because I predicted that at the end the scientist would get lasered by the baby lmao.

My Episode rankings
8: episode 5. just kinda exists
7: episode 6. dont like the ending
6: episode 4. liked the animation, but dont care about social media, also didnt like the ending
5. episode 2. fun story, but just seemed a little weird and goofy
4. Episode 1. Good first episode, that introduces what diabolical is about
3. Episode 7. Extremely deep and heart warming. i cant believe Andy Samberg wrote it
2. Episode 3. Felt like a proper animated superhero cartoon, that made you feel like the outcome was deserving
1. Episode 8. felt like a great lore episode, that shows why Homelander is the way that he is, and why Edgar, Stillwell, and Noir are important to him

I would’ve sworn ep 7 was the one with the ATLA director, it just had that feel and just you retelling the story made me bawl all over again. 10000/10

The show The Boys is one of those few examples where the adaptation is arguably better than the source materual. Maybe that's just me, but I much prefer people being dicks and absolute bastards to each other for an actual purpose of attempting meaningful social commentary instead of people being terrible as a punchline in and of itself like in the comics. The world needs less cynicism and nihilism, not more of it, and if it does exist, it should at least be used for some other constructive purpose.

The living poop episode was really bad imo, other than that i liked all the eps, esp the one with the old lady with cancer and the one done in the same style as the comics
The rick and morty one was kinda funny too i guess.

I'm really surprised the Aquafina episode is your favorite, no offence but I think it's easily the worst episode.
Personally I didn't like the humour that much, I don't care much for having 'learn to love yourself' as the main plotpoint because I think it's boring and perdictable once the premise is set-up, plus I find Aquafina kind of annoying.

I think the homelander episode is the best, then probably episode 7 or something. Mostly because they have really well animated action sequences and they both feel like they use more interesting plot elements then the other episodes.

Idk if this is a hot take or not but i think that the Aquafina episode was the worst one compared to the other ones. It felt very lazily written probably because it's written by Aquafina. Although I do have my bias cuz I don't like Aquafina in general, didn't like her in Rya and I don't like her music. Im my opinion she shouldn't go into voice acting because her vocal range is as far as a inchworm and I think she should go back to making music I will not listen to.
