The parallels between Sanskrit chanting and Latin poetry are so stark that it's startling

funny thing, i've noticed that spanish speakers tend to make italian words Amphibrachs because it sound more "italian", when in reality they are dactils, when you mention that Amphibrachs tend to be a little more difficult to italian learners i was really surprised. I don't know much of italian though but thats my share, and spanish make subjuntives like amphibrachs at least to my ears, "amāre" its the subjunctive spanish of "amar", "hubīere" it's another one that comes to my mind, related to the latin "habēre". Cheers!

German language conserved the Roman pronunciation of long-short vowels: e.g. Arbeit = Ar(short and strong)+beit(long and melodious). Some more kurz - long sounds: satt (full) - Saat (a seed), Stadt (a city) - Staat (a country, a state), Bock (a male gout) - bog (to bend, simple past). The spelling displays the length of the sound (in the most cases), e.g.: i - ie - ieh, a - aa - ah, tt - t, ck - k etc.

As a native Mexican Spanish speaker the pronunciation is identical, it's very easy to read write and pronounce Latin to me.

I'm curious here, how were the long/short vowels kept? Were they explicitly stated in old latin dictionaries?

I have a problen with the term "fraterus germanus" some says it means full brother some half brother, is there a way to come to a final conclusion? the person who said it lived in the 1650's Europe.

I don't have that many words of vocabulary yet :(. But I'd say that, in my favorite latin quote "Amicus Plato, sed magis amica veritas", Amicus = tribrach, and veritas = dactyl?

Tribach: syria; dactyl: littera; amphibrach: facēre; anapest: numerus; bacchius: leōnēs cretic: ambulat; antibacchius: pāstōre; molossus: Aegyptus.

Personally I sometimes struggle with separating syllable stress and length. For example in "igitur", my first instinct is to put the stress in the last syllable along with the long vowel, so I end up saying "igitúr", instead of "ígitur". My first language is Portuguese, I wonder if Spanish speakers also do the same.

I'm a Polish speaker and I would say amare instead of amāre

Estne incipīt? Mihi dicitur "-it" ( 3 sing) esse longum semper. Non est verum?

tribrach = domina
dactyl = scrībere
amphibrach = amōre
anapest = medicus
bacchius = equōrum
cretic = accipit
antibacchius = plērīque
molossus = ūtuntur

uuu Tribrachys Trivia Goddes of crossroads
-uu Dactylus Rūmina Goddes of breasteading animals
u-u Amphibrachys Minerva Goddes of wisdom
uu- Anapaestus Nemesis Goddes of revenge
u-- Bacchīus Priāpus Myself in the mirror
- u - Crēticus Juppiter King of the gods
--u Antibacchīus Pōmōna Goddes of gardens, wife of Vertumnus
uuu Molossus Neptūnus God of the seas

See that Tribrachys, Dactylus, Amphibrachys and Antibacchīus are all goddes of first declension, since other declension end in long syllaba and does not work for short-syllaba ending pedes.

if only you had shifted the order of the Dacyl, Anapst, and Bacchius, it'd be in the binary table.
