The Magnificent Abbey Church of Ste. Foy Conques, France

Conques has been named one of the most beautiful villages in France and its centerpiece is the magnificent Abbey Church of Sainte Foy, a child martyred at age 12 and whose relics are enshrined inside.

The original monastery building was built in the Sixth Century and when relics of Sainte Foy were stolen from elsewhere, the eventual church began an important stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

The Romanesque Last Judgement from the Twelfth Century over the entrance takes time to pick out all the details and I hope you enjoy my brief summary of the important bits.
