Do you want to buy a catamaran without getting screwed and you don't know how much it will cost you? We have a series for that! In this episode I talk about how to properly shop for the right Catamaran and manage the tidal wave of yacht brokers that you will encounter along the way.

As the buyer you are in charge. I explain how smaller is better, less is more, and why there are no "good deals" on Catamarans.

About: The Millionaire BeachBum (aka Beach Bum) is a regular middle aged American guy that departed from the traditional endless work narrative in pursuit of MAXIMUM QUALITY OF LIFE!

The "endless work" narrative engrained in our brains from the time we begin to speak. It took me 45 years to debunk that narrative and make a change placing Quality of Life at the top of life's priorities.

Stay away from the Lagoon 42s and 450s. Both have bulkhead issues. If the boat creaks excessively while sailing check the bulkheads on the boat, if the stays (rigging) is loose, check the bulkheads. It's a major design flaw, not an individual boat issue. Better to not buy unless you plan on doing the repairs at well over 100, 000 dollars.

Again, early on and you nailed it. Absolutely! I tell anyone the same: get the smallest boat you can live comfortably on. Don't let your ego buy the boat.

I bought my 2004 Leopard 47 for $137, 500 in Grenada. I had some good work done there including re-gelcoating the topsides, bottom job, and I replaced the standing rigging for about half of what it would be in Fort Lauderdale. The standing rigging wire came from the US. And when we sailed from Grenada to Fort Lauderdale, we did get to see that same pig beach that you are at. I was really worried that the whole thing would be a disaster, but it turned out awesome, and I love that boat.

I just wanted to thank you for the information you are putting out. I'm about three years out but beginning my research. You videos are very informative and if I didn't have a charter already booked for May in Spain I would've booked with you to gain some additional insight. I believe a future charter my have to be scheduled. Thanks again!

Watched it all and I would only contest one opinion: having had a flybridge cat for five years I would say, in my opinion, in a storm the best place on the boat is the flybridge. It is definitely the quietest and it affords the best view (which can be important in a storm), and in no way does it feel any rockier than below or in the cockpit. In fact I know there's no such animal but I would love a 38 or 40 foot flybridge cat, that would be my ideal boat. The best place on the boat at anchor, mooring, dock or sea is the flybridge. Enjoying your videos, hope you get traction. Cheers.

why would you not use a buyers broker? It costs you nothing, it's defined in the broker's agreement.
