Damn, there are some MINI-loving ST haters out there. Do you guys regret buying the wrong car?!

The ST only has 8 bhp more and weighs around 30 kg. less, whereas the MINI has a bigger engine, more torque and 4 cylinders. Not much of a difference.

Looking at the numbers, the ST shouldn't destroy the MINI the way it does, almost 2 seconds faster.

An ST against a 5 door plain Cooper S, how is that a fair contest??? Or is it because that's the only hatchback that an ST will beat??

Test them both with 3 doors and, even more important, both with automatic (or both manual), as the automatic Mini has launch control as well. Even though the fiesta would probably still be faster, the difference would be smaller in my opinion :)

Okay no offence, but that was not a fair test! I know there’s logistics constraints with getting cars from manufacturers but this should have been a test between the 3 DOOR FESTA ST and the 3 DOOR MINI COOPER S. Not the 3 door Festa vs the 5 door Mini. The two aren’t comparable. The 5 door Mini is aimed at different people than the 3 door, and it’s more expensive. Pretty much no one would look into the Festa and then also look into the 5 door Mini as an alternative! I actually prefer the Festa, but it was given an unfair advantage. Get a Mini 3 door Cooper S, which is only 0.1 seconds slower to 60 than the Festa, and do this race again! It would be a way more exciting video as well. Oh and don’t get a 3 Door Mini JCW because that’s our of Festa buyers price range. (No offence to Festa buyers) I love Top Gear both old and new, but this was really poor!

A 3 door with the sport auto trans would of hooked and booked. I say auto because your driver in the mini clearly let off or missed a shift there. Not a good test not apples to apples too..
