Despite knowing the heartbreak that will come from Hannah dying and Ian divorcing her, Louise still felt that having the two of them in her life is worth all that. It's deeply emotional.

Interstellar: the love of a father to a daughter, Arrival: the love of a mother to a daughter

When you watch it again and realize she knows in these scenes it takes on a new meaning doesn't it? The first look with her hand trembling, it's like you can see both her joy and her grief once you know she knows. This movie is so beautiful

Amy Adams was snubbed and robbed of an oscar!!! She gave the best performance of 2016!!! I will never forgive the academy for snubbing her!!!!

2:38 the circular hallway is such a subtle but beautiful metaphor that takes on a whole new life when watched a second time. This truly is a watch twice movie.

Does anyone realize the trembling in Amy's fingers when she hold Hannah for the first time? Such a subtlety that shows how deep she is in the character.

do you guys notice how louises first words to hannah were "come back to me, come back to me" and the last words "come back to me, come back to me"?

This film is just genius. The opening scene leads you to believe that all of this happened to her going into the events of the aliens arrival. Yet it's after. The hints are there. The sadness she has looking at her daughter before the sickness. The theme of time. The one constant.

I remember watching this film for the first time. Not paying attention to the details and visual clues foreshadowing the ending of the film and the whole meaning of this story. The 2nd time you watch this film... this scene is one of the most emotionally powerfull thing I've witnessed in my life. As a grown man, I cried so hard.

In the short story on which this film is based, “Story Of Your Life” by Ted Chiang, her daughter does not die from a rare genetic disease, but rather a rock climbing accident. Despite knowing what will happen and being at peace with that knowing, Louise describes finding herself holding her daughter’s hand more tightly while climbing stairs, playing on the jungle gym, etc., and how that subtle but ever-present resistance might’ve been precisely the thing that led to her daughter’s passion for climbing, and ultimately her death. If you are a fan of this film, you must read the short story (and the rest of the stories in the collection are also brilliant). It’s the only instance where I’d ever recommend seeing the film BEFORE reading the book. The film adds so much to a brilliant once-in-a-lifetime story. This is my favorite movie of all time. By far.

The use of Max Ritcher’s “On The Nature Of Daylight” is truly beautiful and elevates the overall feeling of this film’s beginning and end.

This soundtrack used perfectly in both this and Shutter Island.

Does anybody else just lose it at 1:16 when she said “come back to me” for the third time and the camera focuses on her wedding ring? Every time I watch this masterpiece it’s that exact moment when I start to cry, the music makes it so beautiful and this is one of the best movies of all time.

I remember watching this and I thought “ ok it’s one of those films where she’s trying to figure out how to get over the death of her daughter” but then the twist came and I was just blown away. What an amazing film.

Such a beautiful opening scene. The movie itself was one of the best that came recently. Amy Adams was brilliant.

Arrival was on television last night. Every time I see the beginning and end of it I cry. What a touching movie! I tell everyone to see it and add that it is not just a science fiction movie but that there is a subplot. I don't tell them that the name of the subplot is "Hannah's Story."
