I investigated South Africa. I visited every major city: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.
South Africa has it all - natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant cities. It's no wonder that more and more travelers are adding South Africa to their bucket lists. Is South Africa worth visiting?

I'm a South African and I think you gave a really true picture of our beautiful country - the good / the bad and the ugly. It was very balanced and well researched. Great job! There is still no other country I would like to live in though. Please come back and visit us again.

You're definitely not a hit-and-run vlogger. You took your time explaining the nuances, history, population dynamics, SA cuisine, diverse landscapes, vibrant cities as well as the inequality. Well done! Siyabonga 🙏🏾

Normally I wouldn't be bothered but this has been one of the most balanced and true videos I have seen in a while.
Many more +and - to that place.
Well done!

As a South African I have to say you have made one of the most authentic travel documentaries about South Africa I’ve ever seen. Living in Germany now I find myself watching lots of content about South Africa and live vicariously through people’s videos😅 your video is by far the best one so far

ABSOLUTELY NO SOUTH AFRICAN CAN OR WILL FAULT YOU!!! You were unbiased, interacted with locals (who trusted you enough into their home), knew our history and not once did you make snotty comments.
It was absolutely brilliant! I'll subscribe and refer to your videos on my next travels.

This is the best marketing South Africa can ever get. I have never seen such great documentary of this country. Thank you. Nobody made a better documentary then this one. Think you. Anneke Jo'burg

A much awaited vlog from you Sasha. I wouldn't even call it a vlog, it's a complete TV documentary made by one person. The effort you put into editing doesn't go unnoticed. Please keep it up the great work.

I was very surprised to see what it looks like in downtown Johannesburg as this was one of those places you avoided at all costs. I myself couldn't believe what I saw.
Everything in your video was excellent: the points of interest and prime places (also the dodgy places), the beautiful views, the trails, and the delightful relaxation spots for tourists or just local vacationers, your descriptions... This is what one can expect from great drone coverage (videography) and someone who has done his homework well. An excellent production 10/10.

As a South African travel vlogger, I want to thank you for this video showcasing our country in the manner you did. We get a lot of negative publicity in the wider media so this is refreshing to see. The magic of South Africa gets even better outside the cities - the small towns and villages in the countryside and along the coast. Safe travels!

The best documentary I have seen on South Africa. The level of research and coverage is outstanding. Every aspect of it was brilliant and unbiased. A truly sterling job and I am pleased that you came to visit our beautiful and vibrant shores. It made me even more proud to be a South African than I already am. I read many of the previous comments and agree with every one of them, unfortunately, but true, including those on the levels of crime. Mervyn Nel - South African author.

I had been living in SA for 27 years, until I left in 2017 due to crime rate and uncertain political plus economic situation. My life in SA was fantastic: I had a good job and my son attended one of the best college in the world (The Hilton College), then one of the best universities in SA (Rhodes University). My son and I lived in a beautiful country: wherever you took a shot with your camera, it would be a photo for the National Geographic front page.

But we lived in a sort of cocoon. If one wanted to describe our existence in the best possible way, it would be: "We have been closing them in, but now we are closing them out". That summarisation refers to initially closing Africans into the areas of bantustans (homelands) and townships (generally impoverished neighborhoods which were informal settlements, like favelas in Brazil), but after abolishment of apartheid another tactic seemed to be better. Instead of isolating blacks in designated areas (so whites could live peacefully), it was better to isolating whites in designated areas (so whites could still live peacefully). In other words the rules of isolation lines have changed in order to keep the privileged ones safe.

I used to travel from one Cape Town (CT) safe point to another safe point. I used to leave me secure house (window, inside door and outside door bars; electric fences; garden laser sensors; window and door alarm sensors; Glock under my pillow; other security features) to proceed to a point which was regarded as "safe". You mention those "safe" areas in your video, like Waterfront in Cape Town - it was one of my points of "safe destination". There were many other "safe points" in CT, scattered across the city. My life was concentrated around those "safe spots" - dots and lines on the map. Is one really safe in those CT "safe spots"? NEVER! One could be an easy target on the Long Street in CT (featured in your video as "safe spot"), so your eyes should roll around like you were a cameleon. You should be aware at all times. Perceptive, suspicious, surveilling.

How long could I live like that? How long could I wait for a possible adverse outcome? One day I could make a mistake in
judgement. I was never an object of attack in SA, but I had been scared every day of my life from the early years of 20's and that's why I eventually left. You know, here in Poland I can go for a walk at midnight ANYWHERE and nothing is going to happen to me. It's a precious feeling. No price tag will buy this feeling. I am not AWARE anymore - I am just a part of society and trust another human beeing.

I can write more and more. More details, more memories, more deductions...

I left forty Australia at the ripe old age of fifty two. I was held up at gunpoint seven times. Had my house broken into three times and four cars stolen. Australia is great. Less stressful but I miss Africa. The beauty. The people and all the wild animal’s we took for granted

Fantastic video. As a former South African, I really enjoyed this video. It was nice seeing familiar places. Some have changed, and some have remained the same. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to live there for 20 years. Greatest days of my life.
