Paul Skenes has only thrown 4 starts and is already showing off his superstar talent. With the use of his own new pitch the splinker and amazing tunneling he has been dominating at all levels of baseball. We did make a mistake here, Paul Skenes did not invent the splinker however he did discover it on his own by mistake. Jhoan Duran was the first to throw it until Skenes came up with a similar pitch. Both pitches have very similar qualities Duran's being slightly faster with a little less movement (closer to a sinker) and Skenes' being the opposite (closer to a splitter).

The most exciting thing about paul skenes for me is that his mechanics are SO good compared to a lot of the injured fireballers we've seen in the last 5-ish years. It's Verlander-esque, and I know he had TJ, but it took him a helluva lotta pitches to get that injury.

Paul left the AF Academy prior to the start of his Jr year due to the obligation to serve in the Air Force post graduation and once he knew he had a great chance of being drafted he knew he had to leave. The Air Force will generally allow members to go play professional sports but, if need be can call you back and Paul, understandably didn’t want that to happen. He’s also said he would like to serve at some point in his life.
