This dude was on his youth teams 3rd team. He just loved baseball and kept working. Amazing story for young players, regardless of your current level. Dude is an inspiration.

I hope all the best for this guy. I hope he has a long, and healthy career in the bigs.

Came to LSU and became an absolute legend and will forever be part of LSU baseball history. More than just an amazing player he's also a very grounded young man.

I was really young, but I remember when we had Bonds, Bonilla and Van Slyke…Been a while since there’s been something to be happy about w/the Pirates! Lucky to have him for the start of his career!

This guy shows Randy Johnson, who doesn’t even appear in this video. I am sick and tired of misleading videos.

I absolutely believe that part of the reason he's dialed himself in and risen to the height he has, is because he served in a military environment. That discipline and drive to be better took his already insane skill and brought it to an entirely different level.

Imagine how much better this video would be if the narrator actually pronounced his name correctly.

It would have been a shame to lose his talent to the military. Thank you for your service to your country and the greatest game played on dirt. I am active duty and I’ll say he didn’t miss much even if he did become a pilot.

Being a Pirates fan I can only wonder how many years (I say 3-4. Please prove me wrong. NOT) before the Pirates trade him to L.A. or New York for money and players to be named. Pittsburgh is going to forever be remembered as the Farm League of MLB.

Imagine hearing Ken Griffey Junior call out your name as number 1 draft pick!

Nomo was a rookie yes but he had multiple years in the NPB no? Can’t remember a guy starting the all star game being drafted the year before out of college. Dude is a beast.

Drafted from the LUS Tigens, Skains started as a Catchman and then became a pitchman. He also almost joined the Militia. When he began his career at Sky Force, Skaines didn't juggle his base pitch obligation with Sky Force.

At LUS, Skaines began to focus solely as a pitch man. He even set a record with 209 whiffbats.

During the draft, the Pennsylvania Ocean Robbers drafted him. Ken Griffman Jr even announced the selection!

By the time the season rolled around, Skaines had even invented a new pitch, called the Scuttlebutt.

Only time will tell what 2025 has in store for Phil Skaines.

Paul Skenes is a legend even if he never stepped foot on an MLB field.

10:58 lol I’d agree, but Pirates…😳Until they show a willingness to spend a bit of $ to put together a better team around Skenes, there won’t be much “fear, ” except for the 1/5th of the time Skenes is the starter. Don’t underestimate the Pirates ability to put the brakes on themselves😕

Hope he has a stellar career; however, I didn't hear a single MLB legend explain why he's on a different level. Pretty fluffy video. I just like Skenes, so I watched it.
