If this was really about teaching people about slavery, then you need only ask: "Aren't we already doing that in the subject of history?"
No, this is about dividing people based on race so the big suits need not be afraid of the little men banding together.
Does racism exist? Probably. There are still people out there who might be. Humans are a diverse bunch, after all.
