lovely fella.. met him the day after the skids had played liverpool rotters, 1980 ( he'd stayed over to catch the ramones play the same club the next day) very approachable and chatty... we ended sharing a jazz cigarette and ended up talking, at great length, about hawkwind! much to his girlfriend (or wife's) disdain that once on the subject of them he'd never shut up (which was true!).. haha... anyways.. a couple of years later big country played the warehouse in liverpool (first uk tour and an incredible gig)... so anyways, after the gig as i walked past the dressing room (next to the stage) the door was open and a shout of hey! hawkwind!!! roared from out of the room.. i was beckoned inside, met the band etc.. still to this day i can't get over how he'd remembered our initial encounter.. as i said before a lovely fella

Big Country and Simple Minds were the soundtrack of my youth growing up in Ireland. R.I.P Stuart Adamson, a very sad loss.

He was a great musician. A real emblem for Scotland. He has two grown up children that he'd be very proud of. The bag pipes riff in "In a Big Country" is just so perfect. Stuart Adamson forever young☘️🇮🇪🧚‍♂️

Excellent vid. Stuart was a great guy, very humble and easy to talk to. I live in Crossgates where Stuart grew up and last year named a new street after him, Stuart Adamson Cresent. Flowers are layed there now on each anniversary. Definitely not forgotten and will always one of Scotland's finest.

Stuart and Big Country deserved so much more. I thought they'd be as big as U2.
When I learned of Stuart's passing, I was devastated.

i actually work on the same street as the hotel that stuart ended his life at.
i often drive by and think about what he must have been going through at that time in his life.
i'm a life long fan of big country and stuart and i pay tribute by listening to the music often and turning other people on to the songs.

So sad. Into the Valley is still one of my favourite songs. RIP Stuart.

Met him and the band twice after gigs in Liverpool in 83 and 84. They always used to stay behind to meet the fans and sign stuff. I got my cassette of The Crossing and a programme signed. Such a sad story.

The last line of "In a Big Country" is "Stay Alive". My best friend hung himself in September 1986. I still remember us partying to "In a Big Country". I never knew or even got to see Stuart Adamson live but I can honestly say that I miss them both. I can't help but feel that "what if" about both.

I saw him play in The Skids. It was in the old Russell Club in Manchester (That area was ROUGH) . Met the group, got his autograph.
They whole group (Skids) were so humble. You just knew there was something special about this man.

I loved that 'Bag pipey' sound he created with his guitar and then carried on with Big Country.

It's such a shame it ended the way it did. He was a star!

Truly tragic loss and greatly missed. Saw them at the assembly rooms in derby, he had the whole place bouncing. He commented on what a lovely little place we had. God bless you Stuart ❤
