Dynamic Balance Test: Can You Do It?

MARK: Hey it's Mark, I want to show you
a balance test
and I want you to take it with me.
And I think in exercise, a lot of people
when they think of exercise,
they think of, you know, strength training,
think of cardio, or they think of flexibility,
but often overlooked area of fitness is balance
and so I want you to take this balance test
with me, and you're gonna start out
with your feet together,
okay? you're gonna mirror me.
You're gonna take one foot,
and you are gonna keep your leg extended,
and you're gonna bring it straight up,
and you're gonna bring it back
to starting position.
Then you're gonna bring it straight out,
and you're gonna bring it back to the starting position,
and you're gonna bring it straight back, you're
gonna bring it to the starting position
and then you're gonna take your heel and you're
gonna put it kinda closed to your butt,
gonna hold that, and then bring it back.
And so hopefully you're still on
one foot and balanced.
To make it a little bit harder, this balance
test you're gonna close your eyes the whole time.
Alright, so I'm gonna close my eyes,
bring it straight up,
and then back.
To the side
and then back.
We're gonna go backwards,
back, and you're gonna curl your toe,
and then bring it back. Eyes closed.
Hopefully
you're still balanced,
It's not easy of course, I'm not sure if you did
the whole thing
but, some so you can kinda practice,
and in another video I'm gonna have some tips
on how to improve your balance,
so you can kinda do this test
pretty easily.
