Prince grew up as a music fan. And by playing music he/we grew up listening to showed he was a fan an shows his respect for those artists like Kool & the Gang, the Stylistics and so on. A true musician as he was likes to show they are fans of music and can play ANYTHING. It’s boring to just play your stuff all the time so you mix it up during your concerts especially later years when you’ve done the old hits 10000’s of times.

John Blackwell had such CLEAN chops. The BEST drummer that Prince ever had. Rest in Heaven, Mr. Nelson & Mr. Blackwell.
