very clear explanation.i bought same type modem, with 12v power supply connected.
using usb to ttl converter, i can not communicated with the modem using putty in all baud rate.
what is the default buad rate of the modem.

Great video, question... does the SIM card need to be activated? Or can u use a brand new SIM card and sms text from it? You said it needs to be 3g? What exact pieces do I need to buy, where did u get yours.. plz list app u need to buy for it to work.

Hi.. I am using the same module. Just need to know is it mandatory to connect external power supply to gsm module. Can't we take 5v line from arduino to ' VCC' pin of gsm module?

Hello brother!
First of all thanks for making such a informative video. I am facing a problem while connecting my 900a module with Arduino. The network led is not blinking or turning on. My SIM also support 2g in phone. Now when I programed to find my Gsm IMEI no. then it showing "0" .
When i call from another no. It shows it is ringing at calling side. My Gsm module is same as in your video. I tried all such steps.
1. Giving sufficient power supply 12v 2A
2. Switching different sim card.

3. Tried AT commond.

4. There is not any PIN no. Lock there.

So please help and reply.

Thanks for this tutorial.
I want to use this type of solution to manage the usage of an Air Conditioner:
1. Receive an SMS when the A/C is switched on. SMS message should contain an account number + date / Time + "A/C on"
2. Ability to send an SMS to disable the A/C from starting
3. Ability to send an SMS to enable the A/C to start
What are the reference in the web that could provide me with some details regarding this project?
