imagine my shock. the govt is forced to produce a list and guidelines for the EV tax credits, and the resulting list and guidelines is full of incompetence. who could have ever guessed that endless bureaucracy would result in inefficient and incompetent results?

Our first mistake was thinking our government would do something that makes sense

I'm sure Tesla is going to ask for detailed clarification from the IRS on EXACTLY why the VW ID4 or Ford Escape hybrid does qualify for the applicable MSRP threshold limit of $80k tex credit as opposed to the 2-row model Y. I'm baffled by this.

I got my 2023 model 3 with the upgraded rims last week Thursday. Not only did I get the $7500 at POS credit but also qualified for the 10k free supercharger miles and because I originally wanted the stock basic wheels the only one available with the upgraded rims I got the person who helped me said not to worry and “hooked me up” so the whole price was still the price of the stock price. I am a little over a week driving it and am absolutely in love with it not only the car but the price for it! 👏🏼🙌🏼

I was one of their customers who picked up a model 3 on 12/31/2022 in Dublin Ca. Mass chaos there. My car was just built 1 day prior to pick up. Only had 49% charge on it, didn't care since I got the $7500 off, no brainer purchase for me.

Fully expecting the MY 5 seater to drop down to 55k, which was the price the car was at during the beginning of the year. I bought mine for $52k in 2021 and took delivery in March 2022.

I get people who wanted this discount on a Tesla are upset but I see where the government is coming from. It’s clear when you look at Tesla profit margins, especially compared to other OEMs, that they have their cars priced unnecessarily high pricing out people who want to get into an EV. The government has no reason to help Tesla out when they are already profiting that much off people and have no issues with demand. Tesla’s greed caught up to them here and this pricing structure in my opinion is a direct message to Tesla that the government also thinks their prices are unnecessarily high.

Finally got my MY last week. Loving it so far. Although I’m already desperate for updates re vision. The absence of sensors is making the tight parking space for me a nightmare…….

The 2023 Tax Credit is complicated only because it was designed to omit the Model Y with a low vehicle price coupled with a low income ceiling - excluding the category of people that typically purchase $65K cars

In Texas, Bucees is putting in 20+ Superchargers at the station between Austin & San Antonio. And another large station in Temple, I think.

Tesla removing park assist sensors is insane. Why not wait until they have their new system working and just as good, THEN remove those sensors from future cars? As someone who wanted to buy a model 3 this year, I'll most certainly wait until they have that sorted out. No way I'd spend $62k on a car, only to have it not even be able to do park assist. Although, to be honest, I almost never use the park assist I have on my current 2019 Mini Cooper Countryman All4 SE.

If you're buying a 60k car and need a tax credit, something is wrong. The fact that tax credits are going out for hybrids makes no sense. These cars were supposed to go down in price when it's in full production. All I have seen is the prices going way up. So mass production is a lie

The reason is gross vehicle weight. An suv under federal rules has to be a certain weight. And the 7 seat configuration with the 2 added passengers pushes the vehicle weight from sedan to suv. They probably don’t account for those 2 seats being mini

My 2022 M3 parking proximity sensors work fine, but I would be at a loss without them as I park in tight quarters daily and rely on the readouts.

I took a gamble and took delivery of my MYP in November. I missed out on the $7500 discount/10K Super Charger miles the December buyers got. But I paid the 2021 price since I started with the MYLR. Got the USS and Comfort suspension. So win I guess.

With respect to the tax credits I expect lawsuits to start flying. Gr8 vid as usual. 🚙 🇺🇸

That tax credit thing made me happy. The model y is a car. And $70k is nuts for that car. Don’t get me wrong, I love the model y but I’m hoping that this will at least push prices back to where normal people can afford them again

I got my Model 3 SR+ in March 2021. No fed tax credit, though I got $4, 000 in state credits. In a way, I’m glad I do not have to deal with the angst and frustration of getting a Tesla now. I like simple and clear - all this tax credit worry is would be driving me crazy.

Best to all and hope you get every dollar you can!

Well I'm glad I picked up my MYP I ordered on the 22nd yesterday.

It is important to note that leases can qualify for the whole tax credit. The Jeep 4Xe hybrid gets the tax credit according to the Jeep website. However, that is an instant credit so there probably aren’t any income requirements.
