Trying the RecoHeat with a 15KW stove

This is a very clever stove gadget built for serious users who want to maximise their stove use and their potential savings on heating. I've been trying it again, but this time with a big 15kw stove and the results are FANTASTIC!

When I fitted my Hamlet I came across these, and can safely say it's a Game Changer, in comparison my friend has a Burner and when you walk in the front door you feel a chill now when my friend came over the first time it was in use he he said why have you got the central heating on, I said it's not been on all day, these are a must have and should be sold hand in hand and at least made aware of them at point of sale

One of the really cool things about the recoheat is when the stove is cold. it can begin to heat the room in under 5 minutes, instead of waiting the better part of an hour. Also a kindling fire on cool spring mornings won't over heat the house as the day warms up.

Fantastic video - thanks so much. The pump is rated at 37w, but in tests it runs at 17w. At the current capped price of electricity (34p per kwh) that means it costs 13.9p for 24 hours continuous running, so your estimate is very accurate!

Recoheat for any stove is a fantastic addition. I have had it over the winter and it is a game changer - using a few pieces of logs running for 4 hours or so I can easily get my room up to 24-29 degrees and more. I got my fitter to drill a hole in my external wall and ensure the pump was placed outdoors, thereby eliminating the main pump noise (though it comes with a silencer). The pump does need to be fed with electricity so I plugged it in with an Avatar smart plug. Rather than having to manually turn the plug on and off I can now just say speak to Alexa with a single command. You will use less fuel, gain around 1kw more in heat, ensure the heat is dispersed more evenly (trumps a stove fan with ease). When I open living room door the heat does go upstairs, it would be even more effective in a well insulated house which mine isn't. I have relied on radiators much less this past winter and have reduced using it to 10% of former usage, it won't completely replace radiators but for £300 it is a must have accessory. Only annoyance unfortunately which is inevitable and cannot be avoided is the loudish hiss from the nozzle. This can be irritating when trying to watch a film or want a bit of peace and quiet, this review does not highlight that fact enough. I have however learned to deal with the noise and see it as a neccessary evil; think of it as the noise of saving money and keeping warm. Overall the RecoHeat is the best gadget I have ever seen invented in modern times! It is an ingenious product and shoots out heat like a hairdryer would (all for free more or less!)

We have had one fitted for over 12 months and safe to say is a great investment, much better linear heat and we use 30-40 percent less wood.

I’ve had a Recoheat for a couple of months now… very impressed with it. I’ve only got a 4kw Saltfire stove, but my small bungalow is lovely and warm.

Great video, I never knew about this, according to Recoheat it is best fitted outside, I would dearly love to buy this.
Kind regards,

Great video. Fascinating device that no doubt works. It is very powerful and effective. In unscientific trials I have found that a much simpler solution works well - a 3kw USB desk fan blowing air over the stove top and single wall flue section. Ultra cheap solution and better than stove fans. Equally because it is moving a relatively large volume of air without pipework it is silent. A jet like in the video must be hugely effective but being happy with my 3w solution isn't something I personally would need or justify. Great for those who need more however. Keep up the great videos!

I have an aspect 5. It's a 4 bed detached house. I noticed that even in winter it gets hot, the ceiling is like 35C. So I fitted a small fan on a timer which is silent but blows the ceiling air through the living room door into the hall. The whole house get hot now and it doesn't get too hot in the living room.

A good video, we have a small fan 5w which we point at the floor towards the stove, we can feel the difference. cost 5p/day. Give it a go and do the temp testing again. We see about a 5DegC difference at 10m from a 5-7kw stove. If I was purchasing I would get a low powered silent fan.

I’ve always been very skeptical about these different kind of stack heat robbers. Modern stoves are very efficient and need every bit of heat at lower air settings to maintain good draft and prevent creosote. It’s much more efficient to move the cooler air on the floor with a fan towards the stove or stove room and create a convection loop where the warm air replaces the cooler air. Use the stove to heat not the stove pipe!

Obviously i can see that this must make a difference. With regards the test, did you leave the house cool down between tests ? Other than that question, i can see them working well especially above stoves with higher flue gas temperatures. You might have to have the chimney swept more often tho, so maybe factor that in. Other than those 2 points, potentially look great .

Remember to burn your stove good and hot often to keep the flue etc. clean if you do have it on tick over for long periods with or without a reco

would it make much difference locating the pump outside where the air would be colder

Thank you for the video. Quick question would the reco heat spill out as much heat if that stove was the boiler version and was attatched to the central heating system, since obviously the water would be taken some heat.

Did you find that your home was warmer upstairs with the recoheat running? I'm super impressed with what I've seen so far on the videos I've watched.

Fantastic review. Thank you. Great to see in figures the difference it makes all around the home. Should be on Dragons Den :)
